WOW! I thought I travelled light, you made the whole trip without even  tank bag!
Chris

Nope, no tank bag. Everything was in my backpack or pockets.

Total load out was:
Tent and ground tarp
Fleece sleeping bag
3 pairs of socks
3 pairs of underwear
3 t shirts
Rain pants
Small flashlight
Gerber Multi-Plier
Toothbrush + toothpaste
Regular glasses
Camera
Cell phone
And a Rand McNally road atlas that I didn't end up needing.

The maps that they give you (for free!) at the Tourist Info Bureaus are awesome, and very detailed. They even stand up to rain pretty well.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

that must have been a pretty big pack :)
i don't travel light very well  [laugh]

Wow!  Nice trip, I hope to make a couple trips like that someday.  On a side note, one of our groups at the folk festival here in Waynesville was from Cape Breton! Forrester's Dance company or something like that ~

Not horribly so. Then again, I'm not exactly small. I'm wearing it in the pic of me by my bike. Its the L.L. Bean Bigelow. The flagship store is about 10 minutes from where I live, and they had the pack on crazy sale for like $30. It makes a great moto pack. Thanks to the chest and waist straps it doesn't move around at all, but its not restrictive either. Its also got a plastic frame so you don't get poked in the back by stuff that went in sideways, and a pocket for your Camelback. It didn't have enough room for a sleeping pad, tho, so that's when I figured out I could use the foam back pad from my jacket. The rest of the jacket made a decent pillow, too.

That's also where I got my tent. About right for one person and gear. I can imagine it would be kinda cramped for 2 people unless one of them was very wee.

Also, I'm not affiliated with L.L. Bean. I just like to wander into the store at 3 am and barricade myself in a tent in the camping section, then crawl out a couple of hours later after shift change and ask an associate when coffee will be ready. I also think they make some pretty good camping gear.

Nice write up, great photos  [thumbsup].... but where is the pic of the Tourist Info Bureau girls wearing kilts???  ???

Boxomatic

Obsessed?, I'm incredibly jealous.  I've wanted to get to NS for the past three years but have never had the time to make the trip at the same time I have the money to pay for it....   If you want to do it again next year let me know.  I'd like to take the Cat over and spend 4-5 days on the Island with 2 days doing to Cabot Trail.
I heard it's modern to be stupid; you don't have to talk to look good.

Markus

The scenery along the Cabot Trail is a big part of the CT ride experience. This shot of Joanna with my ST3 was taken back in Sept. '07. There are many roadside lookoffs along the Highlands National Park and throughout Cape Breton that provide beautiful backdrops. [thumbsup]

... the forum could benefit from a ride reports category.
There is a site some of you may have visited called Adventure Rider whose top category is its ride reports (with pics, pics, pics).

Any chance of this happening? It'd be great to have a board specifically for ride reports!
