Looks interesting.  Discuss.

Came across it from a first-hand review of someone who used one (for a different sport) and thought it was great - didn't cause any noticeable discomfort or issues.

Way overkill, for the street?

I've wondered at the fact that they seem relatively common in "extreme" dirt moto events, but not so much on the track. Curious what this item in their FAQ means:

Can I use a Leatt-Braceâ,,¢ for road racing?
Yes you may. If you are a track day rider of reasonable ability or a commuting motorcyclist the Leatt-Braceâ,,¢ MOTO GPX will serve you well. If you are at an expert track day or professional racing level you will find that you may need adjust your riding style a little.

I considered getting one after my accident but couldn't figure how it was going to work without getting in the way and making riding more dangerous.  Dolph

I have the BMW Motorrad version of this neck brace. I'd never seen one in person until one of the Ontario Ducati riders who joined us for a Cabot Trail ride in June was wearing one. He had lots of positive things to say about his after using it both on the track and street. On his recommendation I ordered mine in anticipation of a local track day. So far have put only 1 track day on it but I'm very pleased with it. It's very comfortable once it's adjusted properly... so much so that I hardly know it's there. It's light weight and doesn't interfere at all in my head movement. There are optional retainer straps that I didn't use and the neck brace still didn't move around at all. Fortunately I haven't tested it in a crash yet.

I road raced cars for 6 years and had some fairly bad accidents including a rollover which wrote off one car. After that accident I bought a Hans device which really added a sense of security. This BMW/Leatt brace seems like it'll perform in much the same way as a Hans device.

Spendy but worth the investment in my opinion. So far i haven't worn it much on the road but I'll always have it on when I'm on the track.

I ride/race motocross and have a Leatt Brace.  The brace is very light, and when riding i dont feel it at all.  I know Leatt is plannig on making a road race version.  The offroad version might be kind of hard to use in a full road race situation, as the brace is made to restrict the whiplash effect on your head, and if you were in a full racing tuck, the back of the helmet would probably hit the brace, and the tuck wouldn't be so effective.  I'll try and post some pics of my brace later.

(no proof of this) but a lot of the offroad guys stopped wearing them after a rash of broken collarbones after minor get offs.

I have heard that too about the collar bone.  But I would take a broken collarbone over a broken neck any day!  [thumbsup] I wear mine with my chest protector ( a thor sentinel) and it helps absorb some of the impact as well.
