695 intermittent erratic idle

I have a 2007 695 with 5500 miles on it. It has cored stock pipes (I left the catalytic converters alone) but is otherwise stock. it has never idled great, before or after the pipe mod, but it seems that within the past month or so it has taken a turn for the worse. Intermittently, the idle speed while at a stop with the engine warm or cold, it will stumble badly. Some days it will do this for the entire ride, but other times if I let it idle long enough while doing this it will either stall, or it will seem to catch itself, bump the idle speed back up to around 900-1000 rpm and smooth out perfectly. I have tried using fuel from different stations, but it does not make any difference. Has anybody else experienced anything like this? i have not done the 6k service yet, but I am planning on doing it within the next week or two when I hit the target mileage. Any advice on possible causes would be greatly appreciated. This is my only vehicle and I don't want to have it tied up for weeks at the dealer with them trying to reproduce the concern.

Seems like you are saying your idle sometimes dips too low.  Keep in mind that idle slightly varies at different temperatures.  Coring your cans probably made it drop a tad.  Also as your valve clearance gets out of spec it affects your idle.  I would say you just need to have your idle increased a tad.

Thats what I thought initially, but after having the engine catch itself, speed back up and smooth out, I wonder if it isn't something else. I am going to sync the throttles and check the valves and timing with the 6k service in a few weeks, but it seems odd to me that it is not a static problem. Sometimes, just shutting the bike off, and then restarting it seems to clear the problem up for at least a few minutes. Coring the pipes didn't seem to have any noticeable effect on anything other than the bike doesn't sound like a sewing machine anymore.

Wouldn't your first service be 7,500 miles? I had a similar problem with my 695 around 3,500 miles and the dealer fixed it under warranty - timing belt was off and they put in a DP ECU. It's like a different bike now. I'd definitely have them look at it.

Did your dealership put the DP ECU in under warranty?? That would be an unbelievable deal if I could get that to happen.
