I installed mine myself and I believe that there is also information on the side that is against the airbox.  I just looked and the serial on my stock ecu is D081IU1MDJ-CND. Very close to mine but is Canadian. Anyone here install their own system? I was wondering if you put your filter in dry or did you oil it with K&N filter oil? I did appear to be dry out of the box.

Thanks for the reply.  Did the DP ECU have any P/N on it like the stocker ?  Also, I assume your bike now says 'M 696 RACING' ?

Thanks again,
  Steve

The DP ecu had racing in bold letters on it and it does say racing. Did they install the filter because its easy to get at when you were looking at the ecu.

Did you say they were open today? Have you tried calling them again? Could it just be a misunderstanding?

Naw - they are closed Sunday and Monday....So I will have to give them a shout tomorrow morning.

For the moment, lets say that it is in fact the incorrect ECU.  What sort of damage might have occurred from the overheating and pinging like mad ?  Do I have to worry about something (headgasket/rings/rod bearings) down the line ?
At the very least I want them to tow the bike back to the dealer, install the new ECU, and refund my money that they charged me for the install to begin with.  It just totally pisses me off that I asked them THREE times if they were SURE that the ECU was right.....
So now I may have to resort to BEGGING someone on this board to take a photo of their stock US ECU, as well as the US DP Race ECU.......

I agree completely with you on this. I'm sorry I don't know enough to tell you about potential damage. I hope it gets resolved.

Gents,
Well - I guess no one was able to score a pic for me.....So any other suggestions on how I can tell which ECU I have ?  I think it is pretty obvious by now - but as Im sure you all understand, I need to be perfectly clear here before I start giving the dealer crap.

Thanks again,
  Steve

Steve,

call another dealer. My suggestion is talk to shadowchaser. he works in OKC or call Advanced Motorsports in dallas.

If it doesn,t say racing on it and the ecu doesn't say racing when you fire it up then it ain't the racing ecu. I ran my bike with the stock ecu and open Termi and stock air filter for a couple months without pinging or overheating.

Gents,
I called the dealer this morning, and they are going to 'investigate'.  I also sent them photos of the bolt that they forgot to put back on, as well as the bushing for the tank that was missing.

That was 9am - wonder if I will hear back from them today.

Man, I feel your pain on this. It is so hard to find good help these days. Another reason I do everything myself, short of the valves and warranty repairs. Once resolved I would be looking for a new dealer for sure!!  [bang]

I'm not totally useless, I can be used as a bad example!

i would make certain next time that you get a master tech.. maybe this was the newbie that worked on it?

and please whatever is resolved... ensure ducati north america knows to help your fellow ducati owners in future dealings with this shop.

This is the stock ecu

Like what was pointed out earlier, I can see the new ecu from under the tank and it looks bright silver new.

This is the package for the new racing ecu.

Didn't you recieve your old exhaust system? The dealer who installed my system returned my old exhaust system to me with all the old parts nicely wrapped and packeged in the new exhaust box ready to be shipped.
