Just got back from the mainland from a job interview with another, more high-speed, agency.  They offered me the job, now I just have to decide if I want to leave honolulu and my current job, that I've had for almost 13 years......

Oof, wow man.  I know you've been wanting a change, but that's pretty huge.  If you leave, we can have a goodbye bbq.  If you stay, it'll be a celebration bbq  [thumbsup]

It's mid day on day 2 of my Command Fitness Leader class.  On Kauai.  Horrible, horrible time I'm having here   [cheeky]

I try to get going about 5pm, no later than 5:30 if possible. 12 to 16 miles is most likely and I would be super amazed if you had any problem with the pace. I don't think we'd be riding with Boss-ski. He'll ride in the morning most likely. No Tantalus at this point.

Cool.  Well, I will put the rack on the VW and make my way down there Thursday after work.  And just for the record, I haven't been climbing ANY hills lately.   :-[

Any chance you want to pm who the interview was with?  Maybe you and I would still be neighbors come summer time?

Ahem, for the record, I believe that you admitted on this very thread that you were hiking up on Tantalus the other day. So there.   ;D  (Well, maybe not this exact thread, but I nose you admitted it somewhere, honest, he did yer honour)
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

who do you normally ride with?

Intruders of Hawaii.  I'll get patched in if I ever decide to pay my dues...  [popcorn]

Depends on how you look at it.  Figuratively?  Sure, or at least close enough.  Literally, nosir.  This one is a Knights Armament SR-15 E3, which is a semi-auto carbine.  It has a 16" medium contour barrel and mid-length gas tube where a true M4 would have a 14.5" heavy barrel with cut-outs to mount an M203 40mm grenade launcher and a carbine length gas system.  Also, all of the KAC's controls are ambidextrous, which works out well for me seeing how I shoot long guns left-handed.  Other than that, a lot of parts are interchangeable between this and an M4rgery (slang term for civilian spec M4); the pistol grip, light and magazines are the same ones that I had (i.e. my personal stuff) on the M4 that I carried in Afghanistan.

Here are a couple of better pics:

Nice kit!  Those KA's are pretty sweet, though I'm biased towards Bushmaster since I used to work for them as a machinist building AR-15s and BA-50s.  [thumbsup]  You go up to Koko Head to shoot often?

Hiking my friend, completely different muscle group.  But you already knew that.  ;)

Never really been a big fan of Koko head due to their ridiculous policies.  I used to go down to Waikiki Gun Club to shoot, but the owner remodeled his business plan to only cater to tourists and revoked everyone's membership.

This morning:  Taunted (and subsequently scared away) a tsunami.  Yall can thank me later.

What are Koko Head's ridiculous policies?  I've only been there a couple of times, but it seemed reasonable enough.

And all this time I thought it was because Chuck Norris was visiting...

No more than five rounds loaded per magazine, two seconds have to transpire between shots and you can only fire from the bench or otherwise supported stances.  Good for getting a bzo on a weapon, but useless if you want to practice anything more advanced...

Finished off pressing a handlebar mounting bushing out & then back into a top triple for a Hypermotard.  I love it when a hydraulic press goes BANG and everyone jumps as the piece releases. Got the triple back on the HM and will finish it off tomorrow.

Took the bandages off the finger. The finger looks good. The old bandages look gross. Can't believe they wanted me to keep that on until Monday or Tuesday. Will put clean dressing on tonight. Screw the docs and nurses. This is the right thing to do.

Having some easy Cab Sav and watching bad movies on TV with the wife.

Those were some damn fine sammiches!!  ;)

Had a great time at the range today!  Little bit more fun was had (by me at least) on the pistol side, but it's good to have the new rifle zero'd in at least...  Thanks for letting me tag along Anne!!

And for the record, a desert eagle in .50AE has just a touch of recoil to it.   [evil]
