Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Had a nice ride today with my son on his CBR600RR and my brother-in-law on a rented BMW650 GS...from the rental pickup in Waikiki to Sandy's, Makapuu, and Waimanalu, then Norfolk, 13 turns, and the H3 to my place near the stadium...took a short break and then went to Haleiwa via Kunia Rd and snake road where we ate at Cholo's...from Cholo's to Dillingham Airfield in Mokuleia and then snake road in the reverse direction to Kam Hwy and Wahiawa, then more Kam Hwy and west on H1 to Ko Olina, then reverse course to my place via old Farrington Hwy and H1...had a lot of fun.

Took a spin the Beemer, no power and cheesy...wounldn't give you $50 for one...

Wrote lengthy, detailed email to DNA in regards to their dragging ass on replacing my tank after I got a call from Shawn today telling me I need to bring in the bike AGAIN so they can now measure the tank.  This after seeing it in person in December, asking for photos of it in February.  What's next, make a wax casting of it?  Or perhaps papier mache? I guess they are trying to see how long they can drag it out, and then claim that it will not be covered by the warranty even though it is a manufacturing defect.  At this point, I am spoiling for a fight so I can sue them.

lol well if it makes you feel any better ive been waiting since 3/25 for an engine case to arrive so that i can get my 848 back on the road... i would think that when a guy walks in and buys 2 ducatis at the same time and is very interested in buying a 3rd you would want to show that guy excellent customer service... at least thats what i think anyways
it is so much easier to get forgiveness then it will ever be to get permission.

Ho. Let's put a little perspective on this. The tank issue is potentially huge for Ducati and it doesn't seem to be going away any time soon. Ducati, if anything like BMW, will drag this out to not only control costs but also to make double dog sure that the tanks that are warrantied are legitimate warranty claims. You can bet that the guys down at South Seas are only going by the guidelines dictated to them by DNA and Ducati Spa. It may take longer than you think it should but hang in there. Lawyering up doesn't add any grease to these wheels, just more headache for everyone involved.

As for the case halve.... those don't exactly grow on trees either. That is probably such a rarely requested part that it has to come out of Italy and it just might not be exactly sitting on a shelf waiting for someone.  It took 3 months to get all the parts for my 999 and none of that time was due to anyone's fault at South Seas, in fact they went out of their way to help speed things up and reduce the overall repair cost. You have to remember that Ducati is still a small company halfway around the world. Be thankful that you don't have an MV Augusta, Benelli or Aprilia or you'd be waiting even longer.

I've pregnant doged longer and harder at Ducati than some folks and all for what I thought were pretty good reasons. I still have certain design and production issues with them but these days I'm willing to overlook most of that stuff, or at least not get in a huff about it. Yes, I wave the Duc flag.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Exactly what I had in mind, but just more longerer.

According to TJ over at DNA, apparently it is all my fault.  FIrst I put gas in the tank (mistake #1) then it has taken four months because I didnt leave the bike at the shop the whole time (mistake #2).  This way, every other month, when they decide they needed something new it would have been there waiting.....

Dumbasses

Im sure the boys at SS would have loved to have my bike sit around their shop for four months taking up space.....

DNA also threw SS under the bus by telling me that it was all SS's fault.  Any tank warranty claim should be photographed, and measured during the initial visit.  Funny since SS has the emails from DNA dated two months apart telling them to first take photos and then measure it.

btw, just kidding about #1

i guess i should be flattered that it takes time to get parts in and happy that i am not riding a honda or yamaha like everyone else. and i know its not really SS fault, and Sean has been really good to me over there. i just get frustrated that after only having my 848 for 2 days it sat a week just to get a rear tire. then after only having it for 5 months it sat nearly 3 weeks waiting for a new radiator. and now after only 6 months of owning it its been down another month waiting  on an engine case. I really miss riding it. My Gfs 696 is a great lil bike to commute on but its not even close to the 848. it wouldnt be so bad if i could still ride it, or even if it was sitting in my garage just so i could look at it, but its not. I know i just need to suck it up and be patient.
