Sounds great. Sunday morning would be best for me.
i am a no go but i can tell you you will love 916 east of 35. thats one of my favs. especially since it takes like 10 mins for me to get there.
Guess I gotta get some boots this week.
Tommi,
Don't stop there. Try 203 to Walnut Springs, then 927 to Iredell, 1238 and then 219 to Cransfills gap. Then go crazy and head west on 22 to stretch the 1098's legs on 22 to Hamilton and 2005 to Goldthwaite.
Cransfill Gap and back is doable in a day. Goldthwaite and back is a long day. These are the same roads that can be taken if y'all want to go to Fredericksburg via the back roads to San Saba and Llano.
Unfortunately I'm OOT this weekend then again the next and also the next weekend after that.
cdc
Newbie's interested ;D as long as we can stop for a beer or two [drink]
I like the idea of starting at AMS Alvaredo on Saturday so we can check it out, but Sunday would work for me as well...
I should be up to speed after Track Day Thursday ;D
Sat works for me as well. I will be back in town Saturday morning, probably around 10am

No Bueno :( I work every Saturday from 7am til about 2:30-3pm
Well...AMS closes at 4 on Sat, so that may be out. Like I said, I am easy. I would be down for a Sat afternoon loop AND a Sunday morning loop
If we do 2 rides I may take the monster Sat afternoon.
BTW - I drove past AMS yesterday and went down 157 to 916 back to I-35 to check out the first leg of the loop.........holy shit.......I think they made that road for motorcycles. 157 is smooth and wide and I got dizzy on it there were so many curves. All curves are posted with signs, and you can see around damn near every corner. It was like 40 miles of pure delight.......except the Montero didn't like the corners as much as the scooter would.
I can probably meet up by 3pm Saturday (or later), or anytime on Sunday.......optimal would be Sunday morning, less traffic means faster rides [moto]
can probably do Sunday [thumbsup]
Sounds awesome! Lets do Sunday. The wife will still be in Tulsa, so it will just be me.

Weekend Ride (Can you handle it?)
Yeah, I can handle it just fine, thank you.
The real question is, can YOU?!?
;D
if you are leading.......prolly not, but I wanna try [thumbsup]
Do or do not, there is no try.
[roll] Did somebody say something about a donut ? Yum!!
mmmm...donut
i told you 916 is grrrrrreat!! 157 has its moments just watch out for on coming teenage traffic in a 80 honda (it's a classic you know you hang onto a car that is that cherry).
Is there an updated status on this ride? Anything been decided? I get the feeling it may be a Sunday AM ride and maybe kinda sorta towards Hico but that's all I can tell. Any decisive feedback on this? I could use a ride this weekend. [moto]
No can do for me yet again, I'm trying to get everything in order (moneywise) for the Oct trackday/HC trip. Every penny counts [thumbsup]

If this one is anything like the ride I went on with them on Monday its a very nice run. I split off from the group in Glenrose to head home I think they kept going to Granbury or some such place. The roads are in very good shape (well except that
one road!) and rather scenic for TX ;D ... If your looking for a ride Brian, this should be a good one for ya I am going to try and make it again.

I was going on this ride - sounds like a great group & plan ! I'd rather be riding but instead I will be entertaining family from out of town. :-\
Sounds like a super ride y'all have scouted Tommy - hope you post up some others this Fall so I can make one! [thumbsup]
Sometimes my work schedule makes it easier for me to take a weekday ride - usually to East Tx - anybody with same schedule problem care to join in ? If so I will post it up! ;D

This is my proposal :
Meet at same Starbucks in Burleson as we did last Monday. It's at the corner of 174 and 731. Approx 1 mile from I-35w. I say we meet there around 8:30am and kick stands up at 9:00am. We will leave there and head east and go past AMS Alvaredo. We will turn south on 157 and take this to Maypearl where we pick up 916. Head west on 916 across I-35w through Grandview and Rio Vista all the way to 174.where we will head south and pick up 56 north going into Glenrose. We will take 67 in Glenrose and head southwest to 51 north into Paluxy(technical and beautiful [thumbsup]). We will head north on 56 all the way up to 377. Go east on 377 into Granbury, cross the lake and head south on 4. halfway to Cleburne on 4 we will turn left and go north on 2331 into Godley. We will take 2331 all the way to 1187 just south of Benbrook Lake. Turn right on 1187 and go east to Old Granbury road. Turn right, south on Old Granbury Rd all the way back to 917(bypassing the road constuction on 917 to Godley. We will go east on 917 all the way to I-35w and north back to my casa...........or split off and go to yours. Lots of eating places too.......
I have been on about 70% of this route and wanna say it looks amazing. It is approx 185 miles for the complete loop.

Sounds good Tommy. [thumbsup] I'll back up and take at look at the route map later tonight or tomorrow but it sounds really nice and I'll google the Starbucks to see where that is. Where do you take a lunch stop? I'll plan on making this. Too bad the cooler weather is fading and it sounds like it will be back to normal 95-97 degrees on Sunday. Oh well... it's TX.
Too may posts for me. Is this a Saturdar or Sunday ride?

Too everyone that is curious........
We will be meeting up at 8:30 am at Starbucks in Burleson, TX, leaving by 9:00 am.
the address is 1401 Sw Wilshire Blvd, Burleson, TX
From I-20 take I-35w south to exit 37 (174/Wilshire blvd) south 2.7 miles to rte 731. The Starbucks will be on your left. You will need to make a U-Turn and turn right into Starbucks/Texaco.
Also, I figure we can eat in Glenrose, there is a good BBQ joint there [thumbsup]
I think I'm gonna stick around the WareHome & relax, spend some quality time in the hot tub...
You kids have fun!

There is a really nice (not fancy) restaurant in the old downtown square area of Glenrose that Jen, Colin and I found the last time we went to the big animal park (name???) outside of town. You would never find the restaurant unless you purposely did the drive into town to find the old town square. It's off the Hwy 67 main drag. Although, BBQ is good too. [thumbsup]

pretty much any food joint will work, I think we should play it by ear.......It probably depends on our departure time and pace. If we get to Glenrose at 10:30, we might want to keep going, if it's 11:30, we should eat.........What say you........

f that dude, you're there
I agree, you'd better go or else we take the rest of your guns... kinda like Obama, Biden and their friend Pelosi will do. [laugh] That should make you go! [clap]
I also agree about food, my life is based on playing it by ear... I know of no other way. We eat when it's time and there is a city available. Sounds good to me. Go ahead and piss and moan now but I'll probably be taking the Gixxer 1000. Love that bike and want/need to ride it some more. It's either that or the Busa, which needs a pre-AR trip shake down... but I'm thinking Gixxer. It's OK, I'll park it across the street as usual. [laugh] [bacon]
please take the gsxr 1000, I need something to drool over! Remember, my first streetbike was a '04 gsxr 1000, the only bike I wish I still had. Atleast I could pass a car without bouncing the revlimiter, which is more than I can say for the 1098. Sometimes you just want more.........
I was on another board, ducati.ms superbike the other day and you always see the same question, Is my superbike as fast as a R1 or GSXR1000. A few people on there were disgusted with the question that they see all the time. Then finally someone will answer and say not even close. Especially the older superbikes. One guy who seemed to know what he was talking about said After 3rd gear the I4's will take it, I laughed and thought to myself, by the time I hit 2nd gear on a newer liter bike (Inline 4) you would need a better zoom on your camera to see me. I can hit 80-90 mph before I even see 2nd gear on a gixxer, and with 160+ hp (my 1098 has about 143 hp to the rear) my 1098 would never catch up. The 1098 is only better if you are on a track and are able to ride the tires off of it.(most people, including myself.....can't) But it is pure sex to look at it. [thumbsup]

+1 you have to spend a lot of money to get that kind of power out of these twins. I have responded to those same questions before and generally my answer is something along the lines of... "if you were buying a bike to be the fastest on the street then a Ducati aint it". Getting the 848 for me was never about how fast or slow it was and as a matter of fact I never even knew what kind of power it produced until after I got it, it just wasnt even a factor for me. ;D
Love the GSXR Brian, hope you do bring it. If I had the coin you can bet my mother's eyes I would have one in the garage! I want TL1000R also, I really really want a TLR... I mean ... REALLY want one. [laugh] Brian probably has one [laugh] [laugh]

That's pretty early for me... I am a bit concerned about the bike right now. If it's going to drool gas when I'm leaned over in a turn, right in front of my rear wheel, that's probably not a good situation. I gotta do one of these rides with you guys soon though!
Brian, where are you riding out from? Anyone else on the eastside riding over, meet up?
How you going from Frisco? I live very near Central/Hwy 75 at the Lovers Lane exit. I was going to go south on Central, hit Woodall Rogers, sneak by on Industrial Blvd (AMS territory) and either take I-30 into FW or sneak onto south I-35, then Hwy 67 to I-20 then head west. I don't know... just loose thinking. :P

Brian you're at least an hour from Burleson. Probably 45 - 50 minutes from MS Dallas if you hustle ;)
Take Industrial South to I-30 West, then Loop 12 South to 408 to I-20, then I-35W South.
Is AMS the Duc shop on Industrial? I know where that is. It's about 30 min from me so I guess I'll have to get up bloody early!

Cool man. 8) Charles/SF want to meet us at AMS on Industrial at 7:30? Again, Kevin I assume you know the way over there? Looking forward to this. Been shy on rides lately. Time to make up. [moto]

Sorry you can't make this one. No worries, the cooler it gets the more we do! [moto] Catch you soon. [thumbsup]
Everybody post up and let me know that you made it home! I had to bail early on account of puking child at home......Tommy wasn't too far behind me though, so I guess you guys are done too! Great ride. Good to see everyone and glad everyone was safe today!!! [moto] [thumbsup]
Hey Slag, be sure to post up the photos and video from the ride! I thought you took some photos of the Labor Day ride.....where are they?? Also, I hope Catie had a good time, I am so glad she went with us and she did really well!!
thanks to everyone who made the trip, I had a blast. Would have been better with less traffic, but I think that probably kept me from riding beyond my limits. Hope there are some pics.........you know, one of these days we're gonna have to bring Alan along with us. [moto]

The video will have to wait. There are 3.5GB of video, and it will take a little while to cut it down. The quality wasn't that good. Everything was fine at 40 mph, but went to hell after that. I will try another location next time. Here are a few pics.

Had a great time everyone! The random guy on the busa joining our group was entertaining. I also loved the harley flotilla that we found. I counted them on the video. 29 bikes. Seemed like there were more than that :o
Those that didn't show missed a very fun ride. I was very impressed with how well Catie rode. This would have been a great introduction to group rides for anyone new to them.

Been home awhile. Wanted to tackle lubing the chain while it was hot before it cooled down. And it was hot today!! Jeez! 303 miles on the clock... add about 50-60 more for Kevin! Very nice time and some very nice roads. Seen a few before but lots of new ones. Very cool. Glad the ladies made it. Bonnie, looking good on the PS! [clap] Hope the little one at home is feeling better. Catie, hope you had a good time, you did not slow anyone down... forget about it, never mention it again. You'll really like some of the bigger rides, like the one to Muenster or Swanny's North TX ride. We've had 20+ riders on those and you will find lots of good riders to ride with that will be more to your liking speed wise. A much bigger variety of riders so you get to follow and be followed by lots of different styles. Lots of room to learn and enjoy. That's the whole point. [thumbsup] Again, really glad you decided to come along. Loved having you with us. Good to meet Zack finally too!

Hey, it was a potentially world class event. What would you expect two guys to look like, given the circumstances. Beats the hell out of my other DMF get together pics. Reason #2001 why I don't own a camera!
Again, really, really nice ride today. Besides my unexpecteded squid imitation, it was a very nice spin. Good that Tommy slowed down to make sure that Zach and Catie were there. Again, we take take care of our people. As we always do. Reason again that Catie and others that feel like newbies should join us. We care, and don't ever worry or let us get in the way of you not making a ride. You are what we are all about. Getting new riders on board with the group, Ducati or not. Please, join us... it will only make you a better rider. [thumbsup]

Pretty cool camera Mr. Slag. I checked out your youtube test drive on the cam ( & the .50 Cal -OMG! ) and your test drive did not seem as wavery as on the ride. I was wondering if it is powered by the bike - so could be electrical interference or if it has it's own power supply like a battery. It seems like your test was a little cleaner - did you change something between the test & the ride? Anyway thanks for posting it up - being in the photo biz it just looked like the cam was responding to some interference other than vibration. For what it's worth !
Yeah, I changed it. I am uploading a video right now that shows how bad it is. I mounted it on the bottom of the windscreen this time. Bad idea. The original video had it mounted to the fairing. Unfortunately I never did a test run with it on the windscreen [bang]
The camera runs off of batteries. I will have it all sorted out by the next run [thumbsup]

I shoot at TacPro. They have a 1000 yard range (for members) that is a lot of fun. Anyone can get on the 500.
I sold the .50. Wasn't accurate at all. I went to an AI .308 with a Schmidt&Bender 4.5x25.
I have lots of .50bmg brass if anyone needs it.
So in the video with the Harley flotilla the wind was blowing your windscreen to make it waver ? Still seems like it could be elecrical interference with the windscreen location closer to some bike electrics. The way to test would be use the same mount spot - shoot viddy with the bike on ( running ) and the bike off - see if that makes a difference. The way the images get bigger & smaller seems to indicate something other than vibration. None of my biz but it's got to be frustrating when you shoot to a card ( ie no monitor ) & find out later something was f'ed up ! I would almost be willing to bet it is still RF interference of some kind !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-rJJtAPm10
I really hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the heads up. It is surprising that it works better on the fairing, so close to the battery. It did work perfectly on the tail, but no one wants to see 5 hours of MY ass ;D

It's probably the charging system on the bike that's causing the electrical interference.

I know Bill Davison very well. Haven't been to TacPro in a while. Hit a week long AR/shotgun split class years ago that had lots of NRA instructors from Virginia and local 3 gun shooters around the 4th of July holiday... jeez I forget what yeat it was. I showed up just for the tactical shotgun days. Lots of fun except it was about 105 degrees!! Thought about stopping by to say hi when I came back from my dove hunt last week while driving on I-20. Not a long range shooter as I said on Sunday... but I'll give 'em hell from hand shake distance out to 100-200 meters!! [thumbsup] Bill is "good people"! Actually Bill is ex-Special Boat Service if I remember right. The Brits have their special forces spilt into two groups: air and boat. I believe the "boat" folks do most of our Seal work and the "air" folks do a version of SF/Air Cav duty. At least that is what I remember Bill saying. It's a little IZ_ but at my age what the hell isn't!!
First video looks like a clown car unloading. In more ways than one.
Second video, the sound is outstanding!!! No wind noise, just kickass throaty roar. I think I'm having crack flashbacks watching it though. Reminds me of our iPhones when the camera is on and you move it around. Really distorted image like that. It's like a low sample rate with some kind of funky filter algorithm.

True. I learned the hard way on the elbow pad.
The Tiger Valley 1000 yd range is pretty good too, down by Waco. They (TJ) hold shoots quite a bit for our AR-15 gang/group.

The IMR-5010 powder stockpile from Talon went up in smoke after a lightening strike :'(
