Cutgrafix vinyl sticker from ebay. And it does extend to over the seat cowl. Matty has a black one as you should know.
But when they resprayed my tank, the tank has been clear coated with the stripe so it looks and feels heaps better, not like a sticker.
Guess I'm gonna have to get the cowl clear coated now. :-\

Very Nice 750 sport, boy id love to get my hands on one of them second to a green frame that is [thumbsup]
This is the same as the first Duke I ever rode, I have wanted one ever since. That is one beautiful machine.
It started off as a project bike by my brother, (he used to work at cafe racer in melb.),it was a rolling chassis in pretty poor condition, it's got a f ew non standard items like big flat slide Mikunis, bigger valve heads from a darmah I think, floating front disc and caliper (from a 999?) goes like a rocket and sounds even better.
Lots of beautifull rides!! Spesh place for Brimo's 750 GT (or is it SS based or a bit of everything from what I can see! ;D) [clap] [thumbsup] - Chris
It's my bro's bike and it's mostly a 1974 750 sport (well it's 905 cc actually) my other bro had an original 750 sport for a number of years as well, beautiful machine. Gotta love that right foot gearchange too [roll]

i spent *hours* drooling over this bike... looking at the same pics over and over again, and finally deciding that this'd look much better in my garage instead of an S4R.. and i was right. 8)
was also agonising on whether to stick with black since i've always gone black-- a black M620, black MTS1000...
but in the end i thought the only colour that would go with this bike is red and red alone.
to me black just doesn't work with this model.
although if available, i would've considered the pearl white and red frame over a black...
the point is though, THIS BABY NEEDS TO STAND OUT!

Q, which rizoma indicators did you go with? I can't make it out in the photos.
A close up would be nice
thanks guys.
betty- the lites are Avio 21's - i have put spacers on the front [also from rizoma] but am getting another 2 spacers sent across for the rear - they're in an ok position but i think i'd like the rear ones to be spaced a little further apart - they were easy to install [of course had to take the front screen off and to get that off had to unbolt the instrument cluster!] so i'll make a final decision when the spacers turn up.
here's the closeups

Nice Q,
I didn't know that they came in red, just be careful about spacing them out further on the back.
It might just hang them out there to be knocked off. What resistor did you use for the install.

Nice Q,
I didn't know that they came in red, just be careful about spacing them out further on the back.
It might just hang them out there to be knocked off. What resistor did you use for the install.
thanks Matty - you're right about damage risk - i'll look at that a bit more. the resistors are part of the rizoma kit - just plug together based upon the voltage.

so that is why there is a white circle round the cap....needs the cap to be white with a number in it!

Originally sold by Ducati Melbourne (now called Zagame) as a 1000Sie Custom in 2003.
It is not the Dark model, it has fully adjustable front suspension, grey metallic frame and wheels and on the Rev's check it lists the paint colour as Red.

plus they are ALL equally impressive to the really young and the drunk - they just dig the noise!
just came back from around the CBD (typing with helmet on) - the drunks LOVE the bike - the hungover must hate it though!
hell...I'm off again riding...just ride the damn thing - too many of em end up in sheds being porn instead of being ridden.

I see you've got a head start on Spider in the bling department NewRider, looks good. We'll have to organise another brekky so we get to see it in the flesh.
I gave the commuter a quick clean today and put on some rizoma mirrors and smoke tinted indicators, thanks to Spider imports.... Pity I couldn't take a decent pic of them. Here's the obligatory side shot :P

I love that shorty pipe, I can hazard a guess and say that it is loud?
Looks good Brendan....when is that cow udder getting ceramic coated - I've given you the details! get cracking...probably be less than $150. now let's talk carbon tail, Spider Imports is here for you [evil]
and Brendan - please don't comment on the bling on my bike unless you've seen it within 10 minutes - cause chances are it's got more! Just finished up the carbon exhaust bracket - sort of like seducing a nun - slightly satisfying but no where near worth the effort! [thumbsup]
Hey Super, I was surprised, it ain't that loud - I think the udder is responsible for:
a) continuing warfare throughout the world
b) raising food staple prices
c) reducing exhaust noise

it's a 900Sie with dark bodywork? from memory the first owner's name was mike. he ordered a black 900Sie. when he came to get it he said "no, i wanted a black one" which the salesman finally worked out meant a dark. so they had the "the dark model is the base model, you can't get a dark S" - "but i want one" talk and we ended up putting dark body work onto the S. i think that's how it went. he didn't do many km then a guy named brad bought it?

I would like to, but I do using it for commuting so I don't want all the spray come up my back in the wet. I'm thinking about the shorty CF tray, like you had, but still not sure. I'f I get approval from Mi Chica Diabla for a 2nd bike, then I think a chop would be on the cards.
I understand what is being said about the exhaust and the chop does look pretty clean & minimalist - but (there is always a but), I think it sort of adds a weird bit of balance to all that 'stuff' you have up front on the S4R.
It is so busy up front it doesn't hurt to have something happening at the back.

not really. some of them just stick in your mind, and this was one of them. we've seen it fairly recently, but didn't for a long time after it was sold. you're never sure if it's because the owner's just not riding it or he thinks we're morons and has gone elsewhere.
yeah thats right on the money, nah it hasn't done many kms so think thats the reason, the owner had a second bike, and he spoke pretty highly of you guys when i brought it off him.

yes, I rode past some very nice wineries..we are lucky to have such great fortified wines in this country...and also lucky that 99% don't even know we have them so they are CHEAP!

2006 S2R1k, pretty close to stock.
Only mods:
1. Staintune pipes. Goes with the classic yet not look.
2. CF hugger. Bought from slob on TOB; had to mod cause it rubbed on the 'tunes, but it works nicely and stops the shock getting so dirty.
3. Clear indicators & clear tailight. Changing for an LED tailight whenever it arrives. Blew the brake light last week, couldn't find a single red globe here, and I'd like something where I never have to change the globe again... Bloody v-twins love to vibrate and blow globes.
4. Unplugged O2 sensor. Really, the only mod worthwhile :).
No real other plans. I wouldn't mind an oil cooler cover. Heated grips would be good in the Canberra winters. I really should get around to getting a rear shock & doing a bit to the front end - I'm on the heavier end of what would work with stock suspension, and although I can make it work through the adjustments, it's not ideal. I'd also like to piss off the cat, but that's waiting till I have the funds for an FIM UltiMap.
Oh, and it's due for its 2 year, 20,000 km service. I'll aim to get a loaner bike of something of note so I can give it a good [bacon] ing.

Are you going to sell any of your parts?
Quite possibly yes there will be parts from my 620.
But it will not be until after we are back from SBK's in the first week or two of March.

looks nice!
are they neons or something? haven't seen them before! (on anything other than a lowered subaru..)
I used the EL Wire around the tank and under the seat.
This product took me awhile to found but it works great with my idea,
but there is a down side, it looks ain't that bright under the street lights
http://streetglow.com/site/accessories.elwire10.php (http://streetglow.com/site/accessories.elwire10.php)
And i used Led strip under the tank and behide the frame,
reason is becuz there are brighter and cheaper.
Also i put a switch on the key guard so i can turn it off in the daytime
Notice some of them are just reflective stickers (gauge, indicator signals and the rear fender)
pictures of my pride and joy.

Yeah, do as the Spider says and get the udder painted black - I'm going to have a go at taking the pipes off mine soon (but I've been saying that for months) can't be that hard can it?

Can be a bittricky to get the second half of the pipes out of the swing arm if you still have the shock installed. Putting it back together was tougher than taking it apart. Ducati makes everything hard to work on and get spanners on to nuts!

But it can be done by mechanically inept guys with a decent socket set and a couple of beers, yes?

Make sure that you get the pipe out of the swing arm before you've had too many beers! [drink] [drink] [drink] [drink]
I'd hate to think that you may loose your Patience and attack it with a hammer!
It's best to support the rear end without using a rear stand as you'll need to be able to move the shock around a bit to get it out. My bike had teh old style double sided swing arm and it was tricky. If you've got teh new one or a single sided one it'll be a lot easier.
I got a cheap set of spanners and cut them down so that I could get them onto the clamps to re-tighten everything up again. You don't need a lot of tension on the nuts as the exhaust runs really hot. I thought I was going to have a hell of a time to get the nuts undone as they were all rusty but they were not much more than finger tight. I'd been putting it off thinking that it was going to be too difficult to undo them!
I polished my headers using a bench grinder with a wire brush to remove all of the rust etc. The ceramic paint I got from SuperCheap Auto.
Have fun [thumbsup]
YIPEE ;D............................. I finally did it here are our 2 rides at long last

Back on the road after Easter, apparently I've turned into a really bad back seat driver - with lines like "why the hell am I sitting here with no license and those numbnuts are still allowed to drive"
Yeah, that last place was dodgy, but it wall all Spiders fault for taking us to a closed cafe.... (although the previous 3 venues he chose were top notch and I'm sure No4 will be brilliant)

Seems like there are a few whisky drinkers amongst us here on the forum. And whilst a trip to Ireland and/or Scotland to visit distilleries may be too much. I seem to recall you could just about do a round trip of Tassie whisky distilleries? Maybe something like that could be added to the list of potential OzMonster events for those of us not into karts and paintbailling? Would anyone be interested? Is Tassie whiskey any good - never having tried it.

Its all pretty confusing as to which "intro yourself" I should use. In any event I am actually living in Singapore and the bike is in Perth so it really is an indulgence. It will be only ridden a handful of kays a year because I am only back four times and usually one or two is with the family so that kinda rules playing out as well.
Must say though its a crackin' bike and with all the extras it has the only thing I could find to add to it was a little DP carbon dash piece. Other than that it had pretty much everything from the catelogue. It really is a piece of art.
But there are plusses and minuses as I told the wife, one the minus side I have taken the pillion pegs off so it only carries one rider and on the plus side, IT ONLY CARRIES ONE RIDER.
Cheers and whenI am in Perth if others want a meet up I would be keen.

Nope neither...... Just the bog standard black bracket that came with the bike.....
It looks "blacker" due to the Titanium colored front flaring with the dark screen....

sweet rides tim and monster, black monsters i bet spider got a tent pole ;)
Thanks Matty & Bazz
Not quite as blingey as your old ride yet Matty but I'm working on it slowly. Need to pick up some nice mirrors. Love the look of the Rizoma Prototypes but I'm trying to get over the sticker shock.
Bazz, unfortunately word is that with Spider's advancing years even the tent pole 'folds up nicely' too. Not good!

looking good WRX! I love the red with grey trellis! one of my favorites.....mate if you want some grey zip ties to replace the black ones drop me a PM and I'll mail you up 20....it's called "doing The MattyV" - when you colour co-ordinate your zip ties to your frame....some people might think he's over the top - but I appreciate that level of detail (I'm currently taking the silver chain slack sticker off the swingarm and have hidden the wiring loom behind the right hand side indicator bracket).
I'm always shocked at how good the OEM carbon can come up....it needs just a little bit more love than it gets at the factory and it looks brilliant!
well done again! [thumbsup] love late night mods too.....3 o'clock yesterday I was removing the exhaust from mine!

This photo of my bike only has the rear 5 spoke fitted. You can't really see much of the front wheel through the discs anyway. But,
When I receive the bling you are sending me, and I fit the other bling I have here already (yikes I've been getting bling from someone else!! [roll] :-* ) and when I wash her. Then I will take some new photos. Yes Ducmeister I know - mirrors [puke] [laugh] I'm on to it.
And I know someone offered me red cable ties but not sure who, was it Matty? Seeing as I'm going bling mad I may as well do the cable ties too.
Watch this space (sporadically).

Hey Spider,
now that I've given you a hard time about your mirrors have you got any grey cable ties I can scrounge?
Maybe you could tell me where you got them from and I could get my own.

OK whats the trick to inserting images in the post? I've tried what you've done & couldn't get it to work....is my file size to big? [bang]
Nup, you are most of the way there.
They need to be hosted elsewhere as they are, you then copy the image location from your host.
when you want to post your pic you hit the insert image above 2nd in from the left in your tools above.
That gives you this (http://) you then paste your image location into where I have put the dots.
And hey presto, image arrives here.... [thumbsup]

Thanks for that. Yes I like the look...a bit different & it was as close as I could get to a Cafe Race style short exhaust while still keeping it legal.
They sound good although not overly loud but I really need to compare it to another aftermarket exhaust to see how loud they actually are. They sound quite to me as my last bike was a Harley with straight through exhausts & I had to wear earplugs!

I've just put bar end mirrors on mine with clip ons & they are basically the same width as the standard bar. They certainly trim the look of the bike up by removing the standard mirrors.

If we're counting children, I have more than enough. You can have some of mine Matty. If only I can get a good price for them.... then I can replace them with the moto kind! [laugh] [laugh]
Here are my past and present ride! I will try and dig up a photo of my first bike too - a 500 Pantah!

Ah sold it over 5 years ago - got a warning from the Boys in Blue for doing some very naughty things on it, plus my daughter was about to be born, so in the interest of self preservation and impending costs I let it go - went to Qld. I know I shouldn't of sold it but at the time...
My Monster is off the road pending fixing up an eccentric hub (cush drives went south, turns out they did it rapidly for a reason I don't want to speculate on, least not on a public forum).
So I rode back from Tassie on a 91 gixxer. This is to be a track bike :). Thanks Dad! He gave up riding, couldn't sell it (91 gixxers aren't that special... and it does have 104k km), and so I'm looking after it as a track bike for him. He just wants to see it used.
But more than that, I also have a couple of posties. The awesome one I have is Whippet. Matt black, obnoxious loud exhaust, and is bloody awesome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR-CWDg2_vY
Whippet pulled 5.81 rwhp. A stock one pulls 5.2 rwhp. And my AFR was completely atrocious: that's what you get for jetting at home, using jet drills held between your teeth, and doing hellishly dodgy plug readings. By atrocious, I was < 10:1 AFR for the whole run! Something closer to 12 might net me more like 7hp. OMG! Was still one of the highest percentage increases over stock at the dyno day.
Just gotta finish some wiring changes to get him registered.
Mad props for Brett at MotoGarage here in Canberra (http://www.motogarage.com.au/). One, he had a great time dynoing a postie, and two, he did his absolute best to get me on my way to Tassie on very short notice... pity we couldn't track down some cush drives.
yes ducati is keeping tight lipped about cush drives but they came too the party thanks too a big push from my local dealer that reminded them that it was a problem on all sss and have give good will warranty to others so any one that havent changed your cush drive do ceep a eye on them cause they will come out and chew the guts out of the ecentric hub [bang]

yep, upgraded the forks to as-new S4R forks (I still have to take those reflectors off!)...as you can imagine, it handles a lot better now and doesn't dive under brakes (the standard progressive under-sprung marzocchi's are fairly crap). I put the S4R magura bars/triple/risers on it as well. I also upgraded the brakes to 4 spot MTS with discs from a 1000 sport - all from ebay (didn't change the master cyl and it seems fine - lever feel/pull is great and I'd highly recommend it for anyone tired of the wooden/weak feel of the standard 2 pot brakes).
I haven't changed the shock yet - if a reasonably priced ohlins or penske comes up I'll definitely consider it...
A few of the other things changed were better gearing (14T and 1 or 2 less teeth on the back from memory), DID chain, oil cooler, rizoma grips...

Answers my question on that - although I thought it was more the number plate position as opposed to the chop? ;D
I've got a couple of cop friends who tell me that it's more a fender eliminator thing, which would include chopping the beer tray off. They call it the 45 degree rule.
There has to be some fender/guard 45 degrees from the centre of the rear axle covering the rear wheel.
I got busted for this several years ago on my Gixxer. (bastards)
At the end of the day it would probably be a shame to remove the tray, because to me it is a "monster icon"

can they back this up with an ADR?? This is the thing that annoys me about some police when they try to book/defect vehicles. I have challenge a couple (foolishly I know) and have had them back down - like when I was pulled over for no seatbelts in the back of my 66 Pontiac - sorry guys pre ADR!!

The handguards are from the Multistrada. Perfect for winter, but, too hot for summer hence the holes. When its cold or wet, I cover the holes with a piece of vinyl tape.
There's 3 sections of dirt on the Bonang. The first bit of dirt is fairly compacted, the second where we stopped for photos is really loose gravel. The third section is sandy. So you get a bit of everything.

Mirrors I'd say yep, they aren't really pretty IMO
Exhaust, well if you core them so the bike has some real sound sure.
I wouldn't be worried about putting a tail tidy on your bike, it's nothing like chopping the frame on the original Monsters.

Not at all. I've got the stock exhaust on my 695. I'd like to change it at some point, but it's a fair way down the list. One of the important factors for me is that I live in a flat, and I don't want my neighbors to hate me.
What I really need to do is have a listen to different exhausts (arrow, termi etc) with the baffles
in to see what they sound like.

Nice bike Caz!
Trying to avoid going to the NFI sale, so I spent some time polishing. I bought these cute little "Ducati Monster" stickers on ebay (my excuse was finding "Showa" stickers to go on my forks, to replace the ones I removed when I painted the forkends), which look kinda nice hiding under my cowl.

Face it Julie, Trev "NEEDS" some sort of exhaust ;D
If I have a crash then I don't need to worry about the pipes getting damage. I just need it to be easier for me to ride it, that's why the ride height rod and other bit are essential at the moment
Then what about boomtubes or something similar
Even just some cut off pipes coming out of the udder?
Then if the unthinkable happens you won't have any pipes hanging out the side to worry about and still have something that sounds better than a singer sewing machine.

4 ducati household.....envious!

Hows the comparison, engines feel the same, vastly different etc??
Well no, they don't really feel the same. The problem is trying to isolate the engine from the package.
The 999 does seem more willing to go but is in all honesty a bit stupid for the street. Trev seems somewhat more restrained ... and a much more useable package on the road.
Having said that it is not really a fair comparison. The 999 has the full termi kit ... Trev is all stock (chip, intake, exhaust). I understand there is some difference within the engines ... someone that actually knows what they are talking about might be able to explain the difference - are the cams different or something?
The 999 you 'have to' ride aggressively ... Trev just encourages you a little.
Its all in the power to weight, the 07 S4RT monster is 22kg lighter at 177kg's and has another extra 3hp than the 03 999 with only 127hp @ a weight of 199kg .Add the short gearing to the monster and bingo cruise missile in the making. [thumbsup]

I'm not entirely sure about that.
Didn't Ducati change the way they reported weight and power sometime between '03 and '07?
The 999 definitely has more weight ... but it carries it differently. The 999S is also listed to have 12HP more than the standard 999 - I am sure somebody knows how and why. With the ECU and termis I think I have the edge in power ... but once you consider I more than double any weight advantage the Boss already had and then factor in the relative riding abilities - I know where I sit in the pecking order.

Hi comp pistons and different cams Betty!
Sorry forgot yours was an S ,Ok it has 6 more hp than the S4RT monster, but the power to weight and gearing makes the monster a much more punchier bike to ride. All have 11.4:1 compression .

The forks, brakes, stickers and those damn reflectors, which I still haven't removed, give it away. She hasn't changed too much since these photos, but there are a few mods incoming. Dual headlights and a CF front fender should arrive any day. I've also got a 'Ducati Performance' tank protector & bag ordered. Other plans include a couple more CF pieces but nothing over the top. Other than that, I've also got some black header wrap on there, as the owner prior to me had put on some white wrap which ended up filthy and crumbling.
A couple of more up to date photos:

Leaky fuel tank called for a new paint job. Thought "why not change the look".
Picked her up this morning from Speedys.
I like it.
Well played Rowdy ... interesting colour scheme.
Do you have a shot of the tank ... to show the striping?

Oh yeah. I've got photo's of everything! I took about 150 or so yesterday.

I didn't really break into a sweat trying to develop the paint scheme. I was attracted to the blue and white with the offset centre stripe and I still had the blue frame and white wheels that I didn't want to change. My words to Tim at Speedys was to flip it, and make it pop. White with blue stripes. The pearl is really clean and looks sweet in the sun. The blue DUCATI and stripes are painted on and the whole thing is smooth as silk and looks like a mirror.

Ok. It wasn't cheap......
Also, I needed to have the leaking fuel tank repaired.
To have the guys at Qld Motorcycle Panel and Paint repair the tank and paint everything cost $1200. Hand painted stripes and decals etc (no stickers).
Their website is worth a look, http://www.qmpp.com.au/ (http://www.qmpp.com.au/)

I had Newlook paint all the fairings on my 1098s, including custom ghost flames done and that cost me $1800.

Both guys make the quality of the standard paint look embarrassingly bad for Ducati, especially the 1098. The monster wasn't too bad but looking at what the quality is now.....
I'd say QMPP would be my pick but I would use either company again.

Did you sell the 1098? (saw it on bikesales some time ago I think ???)

Yeah, she's gone. Sold it about a month ago.
It was a real weapon.
I really enjoyed having the two bikes there for a while but in the end, I decided it would be best for my families financial situation to only have one, so I picked the monster.
I built the 1098s up from a repairable write-off. I bought it with the intention to turn it into a track bike or streetfighter but it need such little work, I just brought it back to original condition.
The monster I have had since new so I have a sentimental attachment to it. That and the sale of the 1098s could fund some go-fast bits for the monster that I had wanted to do for ages.

Looking sweet, I'd have a look at those cable ties and have a go at eliminating as many of them as possible.
Cleans up the look of the frame. [thumbsup]

sorry for the poor photo quality.

Nice triplets Klaus, but I'm guessing from the plates that we'll never see them here in Oz :'(
I showed it off previously in this thread, but my ride is still going. 2nd set of wheels for slicks and full floater front brakes, some tuning and just riding the ring off it means it's mostly going on the track atm. Canberra roads are too chopped up to really enjoy; I went down to my favourite bit of the Snowies the other week (Adaminaby to Kiandra) and that's not in great shape either :(.
