Just thought I would throw this out given the Wurstfest time of year and the good riding weather we currently enjoy. Seems like the perfect time to go for a Muenster spin and have lunch at Doc's. In the words of U2... Achtung Baby!! This is specifically directed toward the Boyds given that they are the official Muenster Ride Marshalls. Just testing the waters here. Chime in if interested. Love to hear from Alan and Lisa on their ability to go. [moto] [drink] [beer]
I'm interested. [thumbsup]
I think ThelmaLou and I would SOOO be up for this next weekend! [moto] [moto]

Good. I think Lisa is interested too which means we have 1/2 the Boyds covered. [thumbsup]. I believe both Sat and Sun look good weather wise. Do folks care which day we shoot for??

Either day will work for me. 8)
I can only make Sunday, but I think bonnie can make either day.
Nothin' on my calendar (yet) either day... Sure hoping to make this one [thumbsup]
if I can make it, it would be Sunday. not sure yet though. depends on how well I have my shit together this week....
Phew, I step away from the DMF for a few days and now this [laugh]
Sounds like a good plan - Sunday works best for me. Not sure about Alan's schedule; prolly just me.
Let's do it [moto]

Must conserve tires for 10/18
Done. Sunday it is, the righteous have spoken! Kevin, screw it... I'll front you a 180 Pilot Power or 2ct. Take your pick, I have both. Make this!! It's a great day ride ride and a damn good kraut lunch in Muenster. Hell, it's Wurstfest time and you are in a German town. Duh? Do not let tire bullshit get in your way. This is a classic DFW/DMF ride. If you don't go I'm telling Janet Reno where you keep your guns!!! [cheeky] [clap] [laugh]
seriously dood, don't be a puss... They'll barely be worn in by then, and if I'm wrong, you can have a new rear for track day. [thumbsup] what's it gonna cost you, not eating out twice this week? Let's ride man [evil] [moto]
More righteous stuff. Do what he says!! [thumbsup] I'll even ride a freakin' Ducati OK???
do I smell a back in black appearance?!?!
Wow... how can I say no to all that!

OK that's not good. That's a 20 point penalty for not making this ride. Big mistake! [bang] [cheeky] Kevin, let me know if you need the tire so you'll have time to get it mounted.

Brian,
Even though I can't make this ride, I wanted to suggest updating the first post with relevant details for the folks who have never been. Such as, what time to meet, where to meet, and approximate ride-time (this is pretty much an all-day event), etc.
Just a suggestion, seening there are a few "newbies" who've expressed interest in joining this great ride! [moto]

I'm thinking of coming along too and this info would be useful.
My fiancee is also interested, we have not seen any of Texas since coming here, would this be a good ride for her on the back?
This is a great ride for all, everyone will ride their own pace. More than likely there will be a faster group and a slower group. The fast group always waits at main intersections for the slower group to get there. There will most likely be someone riding sweep, to make sure there is noone lost, or in need of help. It really works out well. You will enjoy it. I don't know the exact address of the meet up location, but it will be the Starbucks beside the Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall. We will all meet there at 9:00 am. Keep checking the thread for more detailed info tomorrow. [thumbsup]

I think that's pretty much it, except I dont rember the loop around New Fairview. We took the same roads back too (I think) It was my first ride with the group then
on second thought, I think we might have taken 407 through Justin.......In any case, it will be worth going!
;D Just in case y'all are not aware of it the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Ride for Kids is meeting at Grapevine Mills Mall on Sunday Morning with a huge group of riders leaving at 10:00 AM. Just don't want y'all to get tangled up in their thing & in case you are wondering what all the cycles are doing in the area. GeorgeinDallas was promoting this around the time of the Long Way Down screening & it just fell off my radar until a Harley Buddy asked if our group was supporting the kids ... I lied & said I thought so !! :-[ !
Anyway, the link to the site for the Ride For Kids is:
http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/calendar/2008/dallasfortworth08.html (http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/calendar/2008/dallasfortworth08.html)
Check it out - maybe GeorgeinDallas is representing for DFWM ?? [clap]
Does anyone know where that group of riders are going? Their website did not give a route or distance, at least I didn't see one. Luckily we should be gone by 9:00 before they clog the roads too bad.

Ok kids, after last nights wardrobe malfunction and the drubbing everyone gave Bonnie for helping a poor guy get out of his clothes, I'll have to make it up ! He he he, I'm not going to touch that one! Just the same though Tommy you sure know how to welcome a guy [thumbsup] I gotta say that. It was great meeting you and the Wild Bunch. That vintage AMF/HD jacket is probably 30 years old :-[ and on it's second zipper! Who knows? I do know it's time for it's retirement so I guess I'll list it on eBay. Also have to start looking for a new Corse one now!
As for my location, I'm pretty much central. Closest exit is I-30 & Oakland (E. FW) I easily get to 820 E. or I-30 or I-35, 183 all within about 10 min. My cell number is: 817-703-5419 so give a call and I'll see if I can fall in with ya. I'm calling a couple of other Duc riders to give em the 411 about the ride and may not know untill Sat sometime. I'll stay in touch here too.

I know it's late but take some time and print out or PM your emergency contact info. Hand the print out copies to a couple of people before the ride or PM me your info before 8:00AM tomorrow. As I have said before, this is always a good idea. Don't ask me why I know. :P Several new folks and their friends are coming and I really don't want to be left on the side of the road telling an EMS tech "ahhh, I don't know his name and I don't know who to contact"... it makes me feel even more stupid than I already am. ;D

F. Y. I. - on my cell phone I've put a number named I. C. E. I heard about this a few years ago and I too thought it was a good idea. I don't know if anyone saw the news tonight but one of the bretheren riders in Dallas didn't see the truck that pulled out in front of him and didn't make it. Good idea.
Lots of folks do that from what I have been told. It's a good idea for sure. The only flaw I see is if your phone gets smashed in the accident. Lots of people wear them on their belt, I used to carry mine in my jacket pocket. If your phone is as badly hurt as you are neither of you will be in a condition to give of good info. Not saying don't do this... no way. Go ahead. [thumbsup] I'd just back it up with good old fashioned low tech sheet of paper with contact numbers handed out to a few riders.
See you all at 9:00!! Looks to be good weather. Warmer than I'd hoped, maybe a little breezy but hey, it's not going to rain!! [moto] [drink]

Lisa also had a really cool ICE holder that attached to her helmet. I keep an ICE and medical information card in my tank bag.

Does this shit sound familiar???!!! >:( Never again!
I'm home.
I forgot to say how nice it was to meet all the new folks today. I've been distracted by all the stuff about Marquez. Besides his unfortunate accident I had a really nice day. Windy? Yes, but it has been much worse. :P That's a nice little ride (nothing but sweepers) and lunch is always good. Nice to have lunch with you all and have the Magny Cours WSBK on the big screen!
Sorry that it ran so long today, it couldn't be helped. I know it screwed several of you up time-wise and you had to slab it back. Those that rode back the way we came had a good return run. Nothing crazy, just a nice tempo pace. The traffic was almost non-existant on the way back. Weird. Considering how much traffic we had on the ride up. Maybe it was because it was around lunch time and churches were letting out. Who knows, but it was significantly better going back.
Look forward to the next ride with the group. Hope all the new folks enjoyed themselves and didn't find the riding or speed offensive. That's not what we are about. Believe me, it's been much faster but who cares. It's not a race and you are never encouraged to outride your skills. We wait for everyone no matter how slow you want to go. Thems the rules. [thumbsup] [moto]
See ya'll soon!!
Thanks for organizing this ride Brian. Aside from Marquez' crash, it was a good riding day. PERFECT weather and some of the nicest people you're ever likely to meet - all in one convenient location!

Thanks again guys! we really appreciate you guys :)
:( Wow, it was pretty agonizing yesterday to log on & read about WhiteCat and I.C.E. info being a problem !! Fastwin seemed understandably frustrated & angry about being unable to be fully helpful with the authorities in getting WhiteCat the things he needed.
I hear you Brian when you say "never again" ! I'm wondering how you can make that a reality. In spite of repeated posts about ICE it was unavailable for a rider when needed. My guess is that to avoid this in the future ride leaders are going to have to DEMAND ICE from all riders OR DEMAND to see the riders ICE Info & where they keep it! This way you can either have it or see that they have it for sure.
I put the info on my cell phone after reading Spidey's suggestion on the main forum but as Bryant pointed out - cell phones can be destroyed, malfunction, or accidentally be left behind.
I posted Spidey's accident scene management directions post before AR but folks should probably read this before every group ride !

Sorry this happened y'all - I know you did the best you could because I know y'all & that is how you roll. I agree with Fastwin though - never again on this lack of ICE !!!!
Since last nights late post I've managed to sleep a couple of hours and have the presence of mind to post somewhat coherently.
I'd like to again extend my hand of thanks to the group for making me feel welcomed on the ride yesterday. Brian, Lisa, Tommy, Bonnie and the whole bunch of you regular E&W's that I too met yesterday and will have to excuse myself for my forgetfullness on names. I have to say that the two people who blew me away the most yesterday were the two women in the group. I've never in my life seen such polished and competent riders in all my days! [clap] [thumbsup] You gals can get into the corners with such ease and lay down such great lines I had to just sit back and watch in awe of your abilities. Brian, Tommy, George and the rest of you frontrunners taught me a lot by just hanging back and watching you guys ride. First rate is all I have to say. You make us all better riders. Words run short in expressing the enjoyment I had on the ride. The permanent smile on my face will better do the job. Can't wait for the next one.
Two things. +2 on the Hard 8 BBQ meet up. Jeez, it's been a whole year since we have done that. That is just wrong! Heck, they even have a protected motorcycle parking corral!! How cool is that? How can you not give business to a restaurant like that? And they have tons of covered patio picnic tables. We need to do this some Saturday or Sunday for sure while the weather is nice.
Secondly, Lisa and I loosely brainstormed about the ICE thing standing on the road after taliking to the the trooper. We need some sort of DFW/DMF data base on folks. Just the emergency info, medical issues and just for these occasions only. No, it will not be sold to telemarketers!!! Thank goodness it seems to have worked out well for Marquez. Don't know anything about the hospital ordeal or his condition but the fact that he was released says it all. Of course his life savings will go into paying for the chopper ride! :P Insurance companies HATE care flight operations! It's not like it was his choice or suggestion to go that way. [roll]
Anyway, back on Cyclone's topic. The phone thing is great but back up is needed due to my already stated reason. I will leave this open for ideas and suggestions. This is a very smart, talented group. I am sure we can come up with something better than what we have... which is basically me asking anyone who will cooperate to give me their info in exchange for mine. Which is lame. We can do better. [thumbsup] Discuss amongst yourselves.
Brian I have a good amount of ICE info for the group from past HC trips. I can upkeep it if folks want to send their info to me. I won't publish the info so no worries on your contact info being out in space. I"ll make a new thread for that [thumbsup]

B8,
Wow that sounds great. Lisa mentioned that she thought you had that very info from the HC trip. Let's see the response to your thread but I really like the idea. [thumbsup] A big thanks!!

+2 on that observation. Also on the coolness Lisa, Brian, and all others involved on handling the unfortunate down situation.
