Mmm, fish tacos [thumbsup]
It definitely gets my vote.
"Recommended for: Aficionados of tequila, fish tacos and adventurous Latino-inspired fare" [drink]
Hummm...
Has anyone eaten there? I'm a little concerned...
"...My companion and I each took a bite and simultaneously shot each other concerned looks. Something in the dish tasted soured..."
:-X
"...parking in a lot behind the building..." :P
Nothing tasted "funny" at IZ_'s -and parking was right up front! (where you can keep an eye on it)
What's up with this group and fish tacos.....
Who the hell even invented fish tacos.
They sound gross, unless they are accompanied by a thong.......I'm just saying....
But hell, I'll go anyway. Why, cuz f#%k'm

Hey "W",
How's it going chief? Do me a favor and put Duke's picture back up as your avatar. This cartoon thing just doesn't do it. Just saying.
So where did you get those reviews about this place? The others I've seen where more favorable.

Anyway, I'm in. I've missed too many freaking "flash mobs". Always seems to come up at the wrong time for me.
How do y'all expect me to plan to be late to a flash mob anyway? ;D

Ok, some alternatives...
Mellow Mushroom on University Dr. south of TCU, this is a '60's style hippie type pizza joint south of the TCU campus. The pizza is really good, they have pitchers of beer and flat screens. Weather permiting there is a great patio with a fireplace if I'm not wrong that would hold the bunch.
Ocean Rock (on the same circle as MM). Is a coastal style fresh fish restaurant located just west of MM. A really eclectic menu with different entries of creative pescado dishes. Fresh is the key here. Flown in daily. Key is also their lime pie extrordinaire. Great beer selection too.
And one last standard that has been around FW when MY mom and dad were dating is The Itallian Inn just off Camp Bowie Blvd. You walk downstairs like you're in some tiny hole-in-wall restaurant. Salad bar, singing waiters and waitresses. This is a specially romantic place for couples since you can request a "booth" which are behind wooden doors that shut when the staff is not at your table. There is so much graffiti (encouraged) on the inside that you can't read it. Some that you can read date back...way back...further back. You can have lots of fun on the house caraffes too.
There's my two cents,

I would like to accompany Dosgatos for a $2 FasTaco. Why do we always have to eat at eclectic food joints? (I'm just bi*chen because I'm a picky eater who gets aggravated at dropping 60 bucks for a meal that only Bonnie enjoys) I'd rather ride to Eurosport and buy a new shirt or something cool for my bikes with the money I saved (they close at 8 on Thursdays) and then enjoy some frozen margaritas on the patio at Taco Cabana. That's my $0.02 But, I know this will never happen, so, fish tacos it is. ;D

Hmm, there just happens to be a Taco Cabana right near Euro Sport on Beach and 121. [thumbsup]
Since tacos seem to get the vote, this location is fairly in the middle of the Westies, and it has a patio, I'll call it. See you all there at 6:30P. ;D

ok so I wasn't in the best mood - finding out I had to drive to Richardson to cover for a sick tech BUT TC that's funny [laugh] thanks - better get to work
Have a great day ;D
wow....I'm gonna have to start pregnant doging more often ;D
I know Bonnie......I know. (I already do.....)
Hey, I have to consider T's statement as one of my own convictions too. Agreed with every word! And the Cabana does have Margs.
It's also 3 miles from my house so afterwards everyone who wants to can come over and check out the paddock area! I also go by Eurosport on Thursdays and for the 'bike night' (I think it's the first or second Thursday each month) but hardly see anyone over there when I'm there. Both places are literally 5 minutes from my house.
It's quite possible that I may have more margs afterwards too! We can sit around the chiminea and get toasty.
Thanks Samsonite for chiming in, I totally agree with the $ logic - I can always cook my own fine food as in last night's filet minons with olive oil/butter and whole garlic sauce, fresh asparagus, shaved parmeseana regiano, and a good pinot noir [wine].
Never been to Eurosport so I like that too. :)
Taco Cabana makes some good chicken soft tacos for about $2.
and they have beer, margaritas and open patio's......its about the bikes and the people, not the food right?
Unless we're trying to upstage the Sonic go'ers.......but that's what Taco Cabana does [cheeky]
And on the patio could slip in our own beers on the sly.
Free lemonade too (comp water, lemon from the salsa bar, and sugar or sweetener).
I can get out of there for $4 at lunch. ;D
if someone brings the hot damn, I'll bring the scooters [cheeky]

Fish Taco Especial and a Pacifico, both with a squeeze of fresh lime. [beer]
I have been searching for a fish taco that compares to the Rubio's especial version for over a decade. :P
I have had some decent fish tacos here and there but no one comes close that "Food of the gods" level.
I still remember the first time I stepped into Rubio's in San Diego and put aside all that Native Texan thinking that said fish and taco do not belong together.
I ordered and recieved my food. Sat down. Took a bite and just sat there in stunned silence looking across the table at my bud. We both had the same look. The look that said we had made a serious mistake... since we would be spending a lot more of our meager E-2 salary on Rubio's going forward.

Ah, yes, a topic close and dear to my hungry heart...The Fish Taco. Once upon a grand time here Where The West Begins in that little cattle town on the banks of The Trinity Cabo's in downtown had the 'peice de resistance' of Fish Taco's. They treated fresh pescado like a delicacy the way true Tejanos do. Flash it in a combo of olive and canola mixed with butter, garlic, lime sea salt and some cracked pepper until firm. Then tossed on bed of fresh cut pico and lettuce in a hot tortilla. The crowning was a tomatillo/garlic/basil/red tomato verde sauce perked with some minced jalapeno for a little kick and served outside on the patio with a couple of Hornito's margs (free pour of course).
Alas a turn in the fairy tale goes like this. A Houston conglomerate who wanted a shareholders delight right across from the Worthington came in and bought it up with the promise that nothing would change. They told the patronage not to worry for the same chefs and waitstaff had been asked to stay on and most important the menu would not change. (chorus) Yada Yada Yada and the first tornado later it was just another high priced Mexican Inn Cafe with overpriced margaritas.
I too am ready for the fish taco marathon....
so are we still talking about taco shells with fish in it? And if so, are they really edible? Or did I miss the innuendo?
i will have the catfish po'boy from red,hot and blue on thurs but you guys have fun and i will c u at the next one.
uh...well....I guess not ??? I mean, if you had ever eaten one you'd know uh, right? We dn't have to talk about fish tacos ever again. Nor tacos. Nor fish. Nor fishing for tacos. I'm done with it. [coffee]

It's the Taco Cabana on the southwest corner of 121 and Beach. Eurosport is just west of Beach off Riverside and 121. So, after Eurosport, you could ride the service road east until you reach Beach, and you'll see TC on the right before the intersection.

Sorry that I missed this [bang] Next time [thumbsup]
I have given this night a lot of thought. This was truely one of the best times I've had in ages. I don't say that because it was all fun and laughter. It wasn't. It was a night that gave to me a greater understanding of who is actually the backbone of this club and of society in general. The MEN who were there were there for a reason. We all got together on the assumption that we'd have some fast food, drink some, cajole and generally make merry. That all happened but I came away with a deep appreciation of who these men are in character that night I had not before felt.
If this sounds serious it is. Life is serious. We ride to make our lives more vibrant. likewise we hang around those who share our passion. The wonderful people in this club all have character and substance. For the most part, most of us that is, we have many things in common. Birds of feather type of thing. At the table we all felt that there were no judgemental attitudes around and let some of our feelings be known. Now, girls don't start thinking we were holding hands and passing tissues around. The conversation was fun and serious at the same time. From that time together I saw what makes these guys the type of guys I consider worthy of friendship. It's tough in this day and age to find like-minded thinking people. People who care. People who are concerned, considerate and have a high moral content. Not to say we're all saints at all but guys who have been down the road and have learned how to treat others with honor and respect.
That night some of the guys felt it ok to get some things off their chest and did so with the confidence details would not get out. Life has bumps and curves. It's the potholes that get us. When some approach a pothole to them there is no other way around and choose to go in deep. Those that do have a hard time getting out of the hole. Others know how to stear around those pitfalls and go on. The topics that were discussed at the tables (food and pool) were private and will stay that way. The way those who are dealing with their adversities was astounding to see. Meeting the potholes in life full face on is not pleasant. Seeing the logical, rational and patient way these guys at the table that night handle it is very inspiring to me. I have to say that I am honored to be around you.
In general all the people in this group Westies and Easties alike are top line people. My wife said to me the other morning going to work that as an observer just coming into this group that she's never seen the type of associations and friendships that binds us all together and get along so well. That said I too consider this group at the top of the food chain.
Within every group there are those who don't quite fit in and move on. To those who challenge the norm will come the fruits of that action. With those thoughts in mind I write. Tops on my mind are about the people in this group who take the time to care so much for others that they go out of their way to lend a helping hand because that is their character. Sometimes all the gratitude they recieve is a sharp stick in the eye and a middle finger salute. Shame to those who act in such a way to them. Those in our group who put themselves out there for the benifit of others instead of thinking of themselves are what makes those people a treasure to be around. They are ones who are worth befriending. I could only hope to be like them. It also troubles me deeply to see them go through tragic times. I as a person want to help fix things for them. I guess as a Daddy and a husband I have that in mind. It is a great dissapointment to me when I'm not able to help them. To those who shall remain nameless I will be there for you if you ever call and need my service or the just some time to listen.

Here's my suggestion for kid-friendly with food that everyone is likely to really enjoy!
"Sweet Home Chicago" in south Fort Worth (on McCart, south of I20)
It's not much to look at, but if anyone's interested in genuine Chicago style pizza (with all the sauce on top), I highly recommend this place!
http://www.sweethomechicagorestaurant.com/ (http://www.sweethomechicagorestaurant.com/)
The web site (and the store itself) isn't much to look at, but there's a variety of menu items (hot dogs, thin crust pizzas, corn dogs). It's BYOB. And if you want the deep dish, be prepared to wait - cook time is about 60 minutes! But it's worth it. We can call ahead and order if this is where we decide to go.
Barnee can I still bring my earpluugs? Sound good to me and kids are always cool. :)
i would be up for a meet this thurs. dont get off until 7 though.
I'll be there.

CDC your reputation preceedes you - but then how could it not [laugh]
BTW CDC rules! [thumbsup]
OK, I'm in, and can deffinately use it [roll] But not sure if me and the kids like Chicago pizza. Isn't that chunky pizza sauce style pizza? Here's the deal. Lets just find a place that we would all normally go to eat, have a few drinks and enjoy each others company. My kids deffinatley want to go, but I don't know what the hell I was talking about being a kid friendly place. They all have kids menus, unless we get the buffet at the strip club. I will expect to do this [drink] [beer]
I can't wait to see yall on thursday night [thumbsup]

Pizza is always kid-friendly food. Somtimes it even gets in their mouths. Nuttin better than [drink] and pizza [bacon] and [drink] and desert [drink]. I need it too. [drink]
