Just to make sure it gets the attention it deserves. This seems to be the plan, is it not?

How about
- start at windsor
- bells line of road
- oberon
- bathurst
those who want to bale here can, and go back via the highway...
OR
- taralga
- goulburn
- illawarra hwy / mq pass (down it for a change)
- mt keira
- home
all up around 600kms / 9 hours + breaks - a good touring day...
linky link of the big trip (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=126+Windsor+Rd+Mcgraths+hill&daddr=Great+Western+Hwy+to:-33.717486,150.001831+to:Conrod+Strt+to:Macarthur+St+to:Illawarra+Hwy+to:Mount+Keira+Rd+to:The+Boulevarde,+Kirrawee+NSW+2232&hl=en&geocode=%3BFdwQAf4dpOLyCA%3B%3BFS59Af4dWhLqCA%3BFeoQ8_0daBnuCA%3BFbCs8P0dlOD6CA%3BFeD78v0dc839CA%3B&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=2&sz=10&via=1,2,3,4,5,6&sll=-33.545973,150.117188&sspn=0.628365,1.235962&ie=UTF8&ll=-33.861293,150.545654&spn=2.5042,4.943848&z=8)
and I also call that the ride is on, rain hail or shine!
Looks good, I've also popped it up on the new portal as well.
We meeting at the McDonald's on the corner in Windsor????
Can't see us doing the extension as it would probably add 4 hours or so for us. Is the plan to have lunch in Bathurst or will the 'splinter group' be short on time if that was the case?
Is 9:00 too late for a start time? Or too early?
To partially cover my laziness I am claiming ignorance on the specifics of the route, etc and I don't know how long will be spent getting to the various 'points of interest'.
Should we also start a list of interested parties, so we know what we are dealing with:
Jukie (short loop)
Betty (short loop)
... and what Trev said (what time, where?)
Let's say 8:30 at Maccas Windsor Road at the Ettamoga pub for a 9am departure.
Heading out through Richmond up Bells Line to Lithgow and on to Bathurst via Jenolan Caves.
Lunch, lap of the Mountain and then on with the Arvo ride home.
I'm in for sure!
Regular starting point Caltex servo on Windsor Road is located here (http://tinyurl.com/czkeuc)
I'm brimming with newbie keenness...but have to be back for a lunch in Glebe @ 12.30.....

Jukie last time .... [moto] .... [puke]
yes not the sea sick road cant handle that again, but if we find water we can go for a skinny dip. [evil]
No the water at the end of the sea sick road was lake Lyell near Lithgow , there is a bigger body of water near Oberon that I went to with the family when I was little. My older brother used to sail VJ's I think it was. I recall there being a big mud bog and an all in mud fight...pretty cool when you are 5. [thumbsup]
so it is a mud fight you want Andy ooohhhh [evil]
Subject to weather keen for a ride, but it sounds like a long day, so will bale at Bathurst (don't have access to your virgins, Trev).
Andy, do you still want to meet @ Varbys? What time 'cause it won't take too long to get from Tom Uglys if you're meeting Martin @ 7am?
Anyone else from the south interested?
G'day Wayne

I'm thinking about heading back from Bathurst aswell , I have a huge day on Sunday

Watch this space Friday night.....
We've got folks located all over greater Sydney (Nth, Sth East and West) that sync up via txt messages on the morning before we leave (nothing hotter than an SMS from Matty at 6:00am ish 8)). We provide local forecasts and check the BOM (http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR033.shtml) and then a call is made and if it's off it will get posted here or people sync via SMS. It generally tends to work fairly well. If it's clearly wet it's generally off for most.
Besides, It's Not Going To Rain on Saturday. :)
weather report on the coast is that there is no rain, still cloudy but can see a little bit of pink sky this morning wait and see what the rest of the day brings

It's clear in Castle Hill as I type, but BOM (http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR031.shtml) seems to indicate some weather. I'll be up and checking the weather at 7:00 and I'll post what it's like here. Unless it is pissing down, I'm gonna be at the Caltex (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=-33.699795,150.928169&daddr=&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=17&sll=-33.699565,150.92612&sspn=0.011372,0.023389&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=17) on Windsor Road at ~8:30. PM me if anyone that hasn't got it wants my mobile.
It's not going to rain. It's not going to rain (it seems to help if i keep telling myself that [drink])
I know it is not the direction we are heading but the BOM radar has the cloud front moving this way .... we have just had a little shower, but only enough to dampen the road.
BOM radar shows the clouds moving across where we are headed ... but, shit! It could have cleared though in 4 hours ... I'm remaining positive.
EDIT: The forecast on Yahoo Weather seems to have improved from last night too.
Yes BOM radar is now showing rain @ the central coast but heading east.
Central west and to the south looks clear & winds are meant to come in from the south west.
If you're coming from the central coast you will probably get a bit wet at first but I'm inclined to say yes to the ride - what say you Andy? Are you still up for it?
I think we only got that one shower, road is practically dry now.
Will post again before we leave.
Been raining off and on all night here in Belrose. Is wet......
So sorry guys and gals I'm still out...... :'(

BOM looks decent. It's a coin toss. I'll be a the the Caltex at 8:30, I guess we can make a call from there [coffee]. I think that the rain has passed and that once the roads dry up later this morning we should be sweet.
Leaving now.

Good to meet you SG maybe next time you will be accompanied by the little Aprillia. Missed the conversation about the headshake ... my very low tech offerings: too much tyre pressure or too much right hand [evil] ??
It was a day for the little bikes today ... 1 x 620, 3 x S2R 800s, 1 x S2R 1000 and then the S4R (first half).
... and it was nice to meet up with Aiden/Hayden (name?/sp?) from WA. He could probably show a thing or two to you well 'ard riders talking up your recent touring exploits and how you were going to make today an extra long one ... and none of you turned up [cheeky]

That photo of the dude on the SC coming from WA, man I hope he has risers on that thing. He'd be up there with bigiain on the iron-butt stakes!
I also liked the 10L of fuel strapped to the back!
I told you all it wouldn't rain [thumbsup] and it didn't. except for that bit along bells line for about 20Kms where we rode through a CLOUD and visibility was reduced to 25 metres. (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3082/3411592762_07e18a2d0a.jpg?v=0)

As for the guy on the SC ... can't say I really looked at the front (found the back more interesting), but pretty sure there were no risers - he said it was all stock except the termis. He said everything gets transferred straight to his arm and up into his shoulder ... something I think 748s can vouch for nowadays.
I had joked that he just needs to add more luggage to improve the required posture ;D
As for the fuel ... invaluable I would say, apparently the SC achieves [roll] similar mileage to the Monsters - not much fun for crossing the Nullarbor and the like.

No I haven't done the masters which was part of my cunning plan to tone down the calipers. I believe I got the compromise I was looking for to counter my ham-fisted approach to braking.

A bike shouldn't shake like a shitting dog at 120 when you hit a small bump. 180 i can understand. Even guys with the Ohlins 'S' model are reporting the same thing. I looked around online and it seems to be related to the rear height of the bike. I'll get a shop to raise it slightly and hopefully that will get it sorted. If not, i'll chuck a tantrum, give it to my wife and buy something else. Woo hoo, bike shopping again ;D
Glen i hope it works out fine for you, and next time bring the missus.
