My leather jacket and gloves are SOAKED. :-\
I towel dried both but they're definitely wet. Anything I can do to prevent the leather from going bad?

I'm in Houston as well. I was like where the f- did this storm come from? I think it passed now.
I'm sure it'll be fine once it air dries.
You should be fine. Hang them up and let them air dry. Get leather cleaners later if they need it. You don't want to soak them everyday or anything. But I got my leather gear wet many times over the years and never had a problem.
Werd.
That thing waited until it was time to go home from work. :P

Cool. Should I lather it with conditioner now or wait until it's dry? I'm thinking the conditioner may help the leather from getting brittle? Dunno. Or will it cause the moisture to stay trapped in the leather by adding conditioner now while the leather's still wet?
Hold off on the conditioner. I'm sure once you wear the leather again it'll break-in and get soft. I have a fear that the conditioner might ruin the integrity of the leather.
I rode 130 miles in pouring rain about a month ago or so.
I found out my pants were not as water proof as they were suppose to be.
My leather jacket was twice the weight with all the water soaked in. It was getting a little big on me so I threw it in the dryer ;D
Its a bit smaller now ;)
BTW, putting something absorbent like newspaper inside boots and sleeves will help the gear dry out quicker.

Most leather conditioner weakens the leather when it makes it soft. I don't know much about it but have heard many leather guys talk about it. If you really want to put leather conditioner on it do a little research before hand and make sure that what ever you put on it won't take away from the protective performance of the leather.
...I know there was a thread on here before about this but can't seem to find it.
Put it in the Dryer on Hi [evil] It will be dry in no time [thumbsup]

Thanks for the tips everyone.
Its leather, it can get wet. You think the cow that used to own it never got rained on?
I think it's a little different once it's OFF the cow [laugh]
leather comes from cows? i thought it was synthetic like vinyl! wtf??? How can you wear an animals skin!!!!??? i throwing my leathers out, i refuse to wear animal skin. Im wearing my own human skin from now on!
PS ive gotten my filthy animal skin jacket wet sever several times and its fine.
On a serious note.... Get some leather conditioner and apply it to the leather after its dried from its rain bath.. It'll soften it back up and replenish it. I got my Vanson perf jacket wet and the wet portions hardened up when dry... The conditioner returned the leather back to normal.
