Bryant and GrillGuy gots it right. How it moves is what matters. Like a Porsche you can throw it into a corner and have the confidence it's going to do just what you want. 1) It's SO freakin' strong - torque in buckets (I used to ride Yamaha 2-strokes).
2) Great looks - chicks dig it. Like me.

clutch, meet pants. pants, clutch.
it's looking pretty black and ugly now.
ouchy. :-\
I always wondered what would happen if something like that happened. I forgot, what kind of clutch cover do you have? Just curious to know how open it is.
proitalia. i don't consider it very open really... but if you're careless and not respecting that spinning wheel, it'll getcha. i was actually just out there to start it up and see if it was doing any better post-vdst tps reset (or to see if the reset "stuck")... and i got on the bike after it was started, and went to put right foot on peg, and the pants just barely caught the bottom of my pant leg. i reacted pretty fast and popped the killswitch, but even then it seemed like it was spinning for so long against my calf. weird how time can kind of slow down. i'm just super glad that there weren't any springs with jagged metal bits on the end sticking out... would have been a messy trip to the ER if that were the case.

apparently that is very true... chopped lid and filter installed, and coming home sunday night it stalled on me several times just accelerating from a stoplight...each time at 3k rpms.
now if i can just get this vdst to talk to the ecu to fatten up the fuel....
how much would ams charge just to move a fuel slider about 10 or 15 clicks? may just be the best solution right now. i don't need dyno runs or any of that...just more fuel.
not all that much. i'll ask Gordon (who you know as Jordan).

Stock ECU? If so then out of luck, as there is no fuel trim adjustment. DP ECU? I have a running vdsts now and could do it for you.
*poof*
i talked to the dude at technoresearch yesterday just to verify that the two things i wanted to accomplish for sure (TPS reset and fuel trim) were the same on 5AM and 59M ecus, and he said that they were. so it "should" be good to go. he said to make sure i'm turning on the ignition and off and back on (apparently multiple times) to make sure the ecu doesn't go to sleep. the problem is the software seems slow to pick it up even when doing that. but the other troubling thing is the fuel trim has never been "available" to adjust...always greyed out every time i've tried. so i may need to put in another call to desmo porche (the place that did the ecu-flashing) to somehow verify that they did in fact flash it.

I have a soft spot for small shops. Don't you guys use Rust down there?
he's not really a small shop. the man's a genius and is not without great resources (AMS).
i grew up with small shops though. however back home, they were small but organized.
I thought there was going to be another dealer in Houston......maybe DesmoPorsche? I certainly hope so because the guys at ExImports are clueless IMO. I've never been treated nice when down there and like a kid I stop by every time I'm in Houston to drool over some machines. Desmo sold me the swing arm and I was treated great.
DesmoPorsche is not a dealer. Just a small shop. No new bike sales, maybe consignment but that would be it. Its a bit like Alain's shop was in Nashville (Corse Motorsports off 4th Ave. So.), but even a little smaller. And with parts everywhere.
I've had one good experience with DesmoPorsche, and one questionable experience, so jury is out for me.
coming from a guy (a m) who works at the big dealer it doesn't mean much. if you walked into our heavy duty truck shop you would say there is no way they are working on my diesel. little would you know we have one of the top two deisel techs in the north texas. they way a shop looks or their size doesn't determine how good or bad their work is. the people doing the work determine that.
Not sayin I'm world class material, but I hold my own in my field. I've been a sole proprietor and been in multi-jeweler shops (as is my current situation).
In a big shop, just hope the competent mech gets the job.
BTW, AMS rocks!

parts piled on the floor, shipping the wrong parts*, that's what sent up red flags for me. And me at AMS is a new thing. I moved to Dallas to read all day, not for bikes.
Alain in Nashville ran a two person shop. Think of it like Stuart, with a second guy (Andy) who got wood over guzzi's, while Alain focused on Ducs. It was a great shop. Very small (two rooms), but really well organized and run.
There's small, and then there's flirting with disaster.

i wasn't paying attention when putting my right foot from the ground to the peg, and the bottom of my jeans caught one of the spinning clutch posts (in neutral with clutch out), and got sucked into the "scoop" of the clutch cover, pulling my leg into the clutch. so it burned and beat up my calf pretty nicely... wound area is about the size of my hand in total. i was supposed to go to some burn/wound center at baylor today but they have yet to call with an appointment time. i think they're supposed to get in there and dig out the necrotic skin.... sounds lovely. doesn't seem like it's going to happen today though, so hopefully doxycycline is really potent stuff.
