http://superbikeplanet.com/2010/Aug/100826liveinindy.htm (http://superbikeplanet.com/2010/Aug/100826liveinindy.htm) -- seems crazy to me that rossi could walk through the airport, even an american airport, on this weekend and not be recognized.
calendar for the weekend: http://superbikeplanet.com/2010/Aug/100825ims3.htm (http://superbikeplanet.com/2010/Aug/100825ims3.htm)
It's amazing how well organized IMS seems to be compared to Laguna. Those guys really put in an effort to put on a good show. Laguna makes you feel like they're doing you a huge favor by unlocking the gates.

IMS has been handling crowds for the biggest motor sports events of the year for 100 years. They really have it down to a science.

1.- Jorge
2.- Spies
3.- Nicky
Yours?
Aoyama
Barbera
Kallio

It has. Can I just say something real quick for future reference? Earlier when you said 10th in the championship, that's like a dagger in the heart. So let's just leave that shit out next time, OK? If it weren't for these assholes being so fast, I might be a little bit higher up in the championship. (Laughter) [clap]
At least Edwards is openly candid. [thumbsup] These riders are at the top of their class but I think it's funny that Aoyama is actually more articulate than the others with, possibly, the exception of Edwards. Yeah, I remember Sullivan spinning too. [laugh]

they also said that allegedly Rizla is waving a lot of money at him to come ride the suzi.
DePuniet looked like he was hurtin'.
He came back too soon, IMO.
Nicky's crash was bad looking, sucks to have to run over to the bike right away.
People get hurt doing that.
He was doing some wicked slides. [beer]
Somehow Jorge keeps that bike on rails.
Sweet - Spies and Hayden on the front row
I guess Ben and Nicky got fired up after their crashes.
Woot! Go The Ben! Let's hope he can really bring it tomorrow. Looks like my predictions might come true.
So...
all of a sudden Ben has the equipment?
Is he on the same bike as You'reghey?
Or is it Texas pride?
Either way...
good for Ben and Nicky.

Other stuff too...
Rossi is broken. Probably temporary, but I've seen it be permanent for others (Gary Jones, Bob Hannah, prolly 3 others I could drag up in a minute).
Pedrosa seemed to be going in reverse of normal, starting out fast then slowing down.
Stoner went backwards.

I felt like I barely saw the race itself
Well, the SPEED coverage of Indy was a little better than their recent coverage on the other MotoGP races.
Compared to the euro coverage... pathetic.
Someday you guy's will realize that MotoGP racing is about as popular as soccer in the states. The coverage will never be that of the Euro coverage, or on the MotoGP website. Wait a minute, that is available. :D

The turd flew past Ben like he was standing still. That bike is just crazy fast and the midget weighs nothing. Power to weight.

Don't you think that is a bit of a stretch? The satellite Yam isn't really that bad. Colin makes it sound worse because his career is about done and can't admit it. The Ben outpaces factory riders at times and has placed well all season.

I agree its not the same, but I think inferior isn't the word. The Suzuki is inferior equipment. The satellite Yamaha is a very small step down in comparison. That small step is all Ben needs going into the next few years... but inferior equipment? No.

Go Hayden.
That may be his arm after he went down in practice, he was digging in his elbow to protect the broken wrist, and burned a hole through his leathers and then some. All of those guys shrug off injury after injury, makes other sports figures look pretty lame.

So what is it...subpar? If it isn't the same then it is inferior. Agreed the Suzuki is more inferior.
the Suzuki should be dropped down into the Moto2 class....
Rossi's bike? Not according to Yamaha. And not according to the top speeds. The Ben's Yami was the second slowest bike on the grid. The only slower bike is Colin's.

Apparently it had the same aero bodywork and mechanicals. Everything except the electronics package. Well according to the eurosport commentators anyways.
Still inferior compared to the factory bikes that were chasing him. So we're either talking about a guy that is motivated to win in one of his "home" races or 2 guys that were just not giving their 100%. I pick Ben's motivation. Plus from what I understood, the MAerican riders had one advantage of being more accustomed to riding in the heat and the track was bumpy, similar to other tracks in the US.

Ben is learning in the first 1/4 of the season...and doing his workmanlike job of it...
then he is hanging around...sniffing at the podium...on an underpowered bike...
then the rumors start to fly about Rossi and Ben's obvious ascension to the factory team.
Then he qualys on the front row...
and then announcements are made and contracts are signed and he's on pole on a bike that's down on power? ???
Call me silly. ;)

Yeah but the factory Yammyhammers are only marginally faster, and they're been doing alright for themselves. They're by far the slowest manufacturer on the grid.

marginally faster? they have the lowest top speed, they just have the most stable chassis for being able to enter the corners deeper and carry more cornerspeed which is what Jorge, Val and now Ben have been doing....carrying more cornerspeed.
LOL! It's funny listening to you lot discuss the Ben's bike not being up to par hence him not winning. Was it just last year that the consensus here was that the package just wasn't as important as the rider? Nah!

Kinda what I was getting at. The Factory Yamaha is only marginally faster than the Tex 3 bike of Ben and Colin. So saying that what The Ben did last time out is OMG WTF GOAT is kind of silly considering what Lorenzo and Vale have done.

Ratio of importance of the bike to rider is substantially different in GP than in WSBK. Besides, it's easier to blitz the WSBK field based on sheer talent than the GP field. The GP riders are better.
Besides, that Honda absolutely walked away from The Ben.

Yup, pretty insane stuff. I find myself getting more and more excited over the racing in Moto2. More so than with Motogp. Is that a bad thing?
Not a bad thing. It's only a bad thing if you're expecting Speed to show the race.
Not a bad thing. <broken record> But if you like Moto2, you GOTTA be watching AMA, particularly Daytona Sportbike. I hate the make the beast with two backs outta DMG and refused to watch AMA for a while, but the racing this year has been awesome.
