Hopefully again we can have a big turn out [Dolph] and hopefully we can get more people from other states to join us....
I will update this weekly or whenever anything new arises [beer]
really 59 views and no one comments :-\
is no one excited about this? :'(
Hey, I'm excited. Had a frickin blast last year, and love turning DiTR into part of a bi-annual Ouray pilgrimage. [thumbsup]
Taking the wife out there in June, then returning on 2 wheels for DiTR in August.
I want to join along so bad I can taste it. I thought I could do it this year but life has conspired against me. I have it all planned out too; haul the bike to Denver and hook up with a buddy there, ride down and meet you guys and have fun.
Alas, my plans will have to wait, just make sure this isn't the last one!

I think DrDesmo is planning all the arrangements, but the 2-room condos were an awesome deal split across 4 guys last year.

I would love to join when I move back to the states. My dad lives in pagosa springs Colorado and my sisters in Durango. Plus more family in montrose just north of ouray. If anyone has questions about these areas just let me know. I pretty much grew up in the pagosa area. Unfortunately it will be two more years till I'm back. I will however love to be there then.
If I can change some plans around this next week I'll be in with another one in tow

so far situation looks promising. Myself and another fellow rider, the one selling his 848 on the board, are coming to this shindig. If the Duc sells he'll be on a beemer if that's ok.

Still trying to figure out if I'll be able - is there a listing of recommended lodging options? I haven't been to Ouray since I was a kid - dad was driving, and it was the 1970s, so even if I remembered the layout of the town, I imagine it's changed a bit!

If you hit up the website, it will suggest the Best Western (It's nice). They own and use the same reservation system for the condos down the road where we (and the NM crew) stay.
Just booked my flights out from Boston!
Also, super excited to take my wife out to Ouray in two weeks on our own little Rocky Mountain Tour [thumbsup]
Anyone looking for a place to crash at Ducati in the Rockies this year? Robin and I have a fold out couch available for $75/night. Let me know. Breakfast from Master chef Robin is included along with whatever beer and beverages find their way into the fridge. We will be staying at the Alpenglow Condos about 3 blocks from the epicenter of festivities at the Best Western.

I will be arriving Friday afternoon possibly with the Denver crew unless they ride too slow then I may go on ahead.
Depending on when we head out, my wife is doing I70 to Grand Junction then south so she is more than likely going to arrive before those of us who ride.
Either way, we will make sure we get everything squared away.
I probably won't be there until more evening-ish... my specific plans are still congealing.
22 days and counting.....
I just looked at google street view... where is the gas station in Ouray? I might have to revise my approach plan.
There's two on the north side of the town on 550, before the hot springs.
If you're coming from the north, there's a few stations in Ridgeway and plenty in Montrose. From the south, you'll want to hit either Durango or Silverton.
the ones north will work. I know about Montrose and environs, but I am coming from the south and I didn't want the first part of any ride to be hunting for gas. For planning purposes, Durango is half a tank away!
There's also fuel in Rico, Norwood, and Naturita, FWIW.
Gateway shut down their fuel and convenience store, and supposedly will be opening a stand alone station "in town" "soon". That means heading out to Grand Junction gives you 104 miles between Naturita and GJ with no fuel, and the round-trip from Naturita to GJ is 102 miles (51 each way).
Most folks fuel up at the start of the day either right in town (if they're heading south), or hit Ridgway (if they're heading north/west). The stations on the north side of town are just a minute from all the condos and hotels - well worth going out of your way if you're questionable to make it even the 24 miles to Silverton on 550.
Two of us arrive late on the 9th. We plan on riding sometime, somewhere on the 10th so if any early birds land at the nest let us know and we will make it a gang. [thumbsup]

I hate freeways, so I plan to come through the Gila forest and then up to Farmington. Google says it takes the same amount of time, and my experience on the slab (even on the comfy bike) has proven to extend my breaks.

someone shooo the rain away for next Saturday, they are showing 60% [bang]
Actually, rain chances in that area are almost 100% that time of year. Fortunately, the little afternoon showers pass quickly and if it is hot, knocks the edge off the heat so, crank up your traction control and ABS and keep on keepin' on! [Dolph]
I have neither. My bike is a vintage these days. No matter, as long as hail doesn't come down I'll be fine.

The 3rd & 4th year i went the weather was perfect...just a lite rain after we got back from the ride...
But the year before last we got seriously dumped on when heading back from gateway.
Like ryan says it does pass quickly...
Oh I know, I got soaked in Durango last year.
We ran into some small hail on the Lake City loop last year. Stung through my leather...otherwise, riding in the rain doesn't bother me...the road into Ouray from the north though gets slick with the silt that collects on the road and then turns into a slippery mess.
Just got out first substantial rain in like 2.5 months today here. And it has made the temps cool enough that I want to actually ride for leisure and not just simply for transportation hehe.

Yay! Stay here. We're having a Duc-Night tonight...
Where?
Great (albiet mostly flat and straight) ride yesterday and today.
Left Des Moines about 2 hours later than I planned but still made it nearly to Hastings, NE before finding a field to set up my tent and call it a night shortly after 1am. Up again at 6am and loaded up and back on the road. Ended up metting up with the wife about 15 miles west of Ft. Morgan.
Went and met up with the DEMC at Bannock Street Garage and even the elusive and mysterious Randimus Maximus put in an appearance.
Now at the hotel ready to sleep about 8 hours in a real bed.
Here! Beware of cops in Durango, they are everywhere.
Just about ready to rock!
We have to unload and park the trailer tomorrow morning. Those of u here already, we will be eating breakfast at 8 so let's meet up or look for a ford f250 white with TX tags
That was a blast!
It was great meeting all the folks and riding on those roads. I could still do without NW NM being in my way.
Did I hear there were nuptials at the event?
apparently so... and t-shirts.
I'm the new guy so I didn't make the list, but there was much celebration to be had.
Pics or it did not happen.

So after riding across Colorado in the rain on I70 on a set of completely bald tires, I made a call to BMS...HUGE props to Brian and Tres for getting me in and a new set of skins mounted on the Multi. And thanks Randy for introducing me to them so long ago. They have saved my butt twice now.
Great trip. I have a ton of video to edit including one great set where Greg's radar detector cover tried to decapitate me at about 100 mph.
Didn't know about the wedding until after the fact or I woulda been a pic shootin' fool. But grats to John and Angie nonetheless. [beer]
Glad to hear you made it. I think I will be getting the same kind of mileage out of my set. They are starting to square off despite my best efforts over the weekend.
I'm holding out for the clip where we passed in opposite directions. :)
It stopped making that noise by Farmington... I think she was unhappy at the altitude. I still plan to check everything over with a fine toothed comb, but nothing bad would have let me ride home at that pace...
Was great to meet friends (new & old)!
1000+ miles.
Tons of laughs and loads of booze...
Donated the oil pressure sensor to another bike.
Donated a bolt to another bike.
Betty's like the 'giving tree' of bikes. [thumbsup]
