Post by: corey on October 18, 2012, 07:59:35 PM
I know there's a good amount of you folks that play with the real deal, but anyone out there into Airsoft at all? Just starting to get into it a little bit.

Try BB gun fights.  :D One pump only, but they'll still make you a believer.

My son loves the airsoft.  Its cool that "real" accessories fit.  We recently put my eotech and bipod on his airsoft m4.  Colt, DPMS and a couple other gun manufacturers have airsoft products

Which one are you looking at?

I have 1 airsoft pistol that I never use and am quite frankly thinking about parting ways with...I never did the hop-up mod and I think the gas quite frankly stinks...

Pretty excited to get into something new for a while... I'm sure it will fade like most of my hobbies, but it's a blast for sure.

Actually, I'm coming from a background in paintball to the airsoft world. Paintball is dying round these parts, and it's just too expensive to play anymore...
What kind of "M4" do you have?

I know nothing about this stuff. Can someone explain it?
Do you have team battles like paintball? If so,Is it "honor system" if you are hit?
What happens to all the spent BB's? Do they just accumulate everywhere? (plastic = non-biodegradeable)
Or is it for target shooting?
What is FPS on these?
Thanks   :)

Do you have team battles like paintball?

Yes but the stories are a lot more elaborated.  multiple objective. interrogations. capture ., hostage crisis, 3 day's missions ...etc...  just let your imagination go.  But it depend whit who you play .... there some ex-military that do airsoft it's a lot more fun and harder

If so,Is it "honor system" if you are hit?

Yes, if you don't cal your "hit"  [roll] [roll]nobody wants to play whit a cheater!! so nobody will call you to come to play ! So you stay home  [cheeky]  ;D  Usually people form little units ( group of 4 to 8 pers.) and all the units meet up somewere....so if you cheat your "patrol" kick you out  >:(

What happens to all the spent BB's? Do they just accumulate everywhere? (plastic = non-biodegradeable)  BIODEGRADABLE ... no problem whit that [clap]
Or is it for target shooting?

What is FPS on these? 300-500 for sniper riffle..  but whit some modification you can go higher

My step son and his buddies have good old fashion team on team battles... probably similar to paint gun battles. Except it's in my front yard. I make them dress up with sweat shirts or light coats and no shorts. Also bought a gaggle of cheap clear shooting glasses from Dillon. No glasses, no long sleve stuff then you don't get to shoot. [evil] And it's all eco-bio-degradable Airsoft ammo. Don't want to have to sweep up 1000s of Airsoft bbs.

Junior did manage to shoot out the side mirror on my Suburban at my family's cabin in New Mexico this summer after he finished his Boy Scout trek at Philmont Ranch. It was an accident but made proof you need protective clothing, head wear and glasses. He and his friend just flat wore it out! If a black bear had ever shown up (which they do) they would have been suffered a salvo of Airsoft pellets! [laugh]

Yup, that's how we used to do it back in the day. When you got hit you damn sure knew it. [clap]

Of course that was also years before bicycle helmets & safety covers for the outlets in the house, YMMV.....

Ok, paintball background here... so I've got some questions

Most times when you're hit you know it and the majority of folks call out. But, many times in the heat of things folks would not notice a valid hit on a less sensitive portion of the body, or you'd take a hit in some part of gear, like a ammo tube on your back and be totally unaware of it. There's refs out and you can call for a paint check for yourself or another player. Ref come's, looks and let's you play on or calls you out. How's airsoft rules address this?

Also, in paintball there are common instances where one is hit, but the ball does not break. In that event the player who is hit is *not* eliminated - the ball must break to be an eliminating hit. There something like this in airsoft?

I don't get it? Why are  you calling me a mythical creature that lives under a bridge and collects a surcharge for people that cross the bridge? Is that some sort of inside joke?

Ok, paintball background here... so I've got some questions

heuuu ...airsoft BB really hurt !! :o pinball's hare large thus transferring the energy on a lot larger surface .....but BB it's like being it by little knives's !! ...OK, if your at 100 feet it hurts lot less.... but still [roll].... and there hare ref's to

airsoft is a game of frairplay so if you cheat it's like cheating on yourself so why bother get all that gear  ... yes airsoft player's are "gear freak's" ...  ;D [popcorn]

*snort* Nice...

Paintballs also weigh a lot more... it's the ones that don't break that you really notice. I've had some punch holes in shirts and flay some skin. Not sayin' airsoft doesn't hurt as I've been shot with them... but at 40 feet I think I'd rather take 20 airsoft BBs than 20 paintballs...

So how's a ref settle a dispute like one player claims to have scored a hit on another player - Player A thinks he's gotten Player B. But B *honestly* claims no hit? Not talking about cheaters ignoring hits - the PB analogue is 'wipers'

Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering what that guy with the gladiator type name was talking about. It didn't make much sense he was talking about a creature that charges people to cross a bridge. But then again, you said they were old folks, so maybe he charges kids to cross his yard?

How old are these guys? Like AARP old? that's funny imagining some 60 year old riding a ducati. LOL.
