That headlight needs to go! Other than that it is a great looking bike.
this does not suck.
I will buy it.
Too many nice! ;D
how is anyone supposed to buy a bike and make a decision with postings like this? [bang]
Wow... that is badazz
:o
[drool]
does it come standard with the Contour camera mounted on the back of the seat?

And a keyboard.
Damn. :o
If KTM could just get their US dealer network sorted, and put out some advertising, I think they'd sell a ton of street bikes. They just need people to ride them to see how awesome they are.
If the production version looks close to this prototype, then I may have to buy one.
Yeah....
I loooooved the Super Duke I test rode a while back.
Holy Hell!!!
That thing is amazing!!!!
I was thinking about a SF or Panigale as the next bike but this one just threw a gigantic make the beast with two backsing wrench in my spokes!

I too would like to put in for a new keyboard. [bow_down]
So when I move back to the States, guess what I'll be buying...
There's an exhaust outlet under the bike and the little can above the wheel. Is that some kind of switchable thing?

No, front cylinder is the low exhaust and the rear is the high one.
Want want want want want want
[drool] I would take that KTM over a streetfighter, I wonder if its fuel tank will expand.

Dunno. But the paint would likely fade to a dull orange inside of a year. ;D Not saying that I'd kick the bike out of the garage for that.
[drool]
Yup, it looks like a SF on steroids... pretty awesome. Just some minor issues with the headlight but beyond that it's ridiculously badass...
But the only thing that would still hold me back from getting one is the dealer support :\ I've been loving the looks of the recent KTM's but having very few options if something goes wrong kinda worries me.

I would have 2 dealers in the general vicinity.
This is such a gorgeous machine. Knowing KTM I am pretty sure that the production bike won't be too different.

I don't know guys but I feel that Ducati should'd kept the Monster line as it was before and build something like this on the high end. Splitting between the Monster (air cooled) and the SF will eventually kill the Monster....with all the Euro emissions, etc.

I must agree with the first part. As for the SF, I was under the impression it wasn't a hot item. I liked the ride but the ergos sucked for me and was too close to a superbike IMO

Fixed it for you.
Black is boring, crazy bikes like this need to be in crazy colors, IMO! I'm a big fan of the KTM orange.
Current/previous gen SDR has the best color scheme I've seen in a long time. Flat black against the orange trellis frame really does it for me.
The one you were talking about today.
I like it!! [thumbsup]

I'm not into wild colors or especially graphics but, that loud orange and white paint make the bike look even more [evil] . I would order one in that color.

I think KTM needs to hear all of these comments loud & clear.
Can we just call this a unicycle? The front wheel is never going to be on the ground.......except you have to hide from a LEO for having too much fun.
when in the hell are they putting this out? i like the look of the 990 supermoto T, but something just needs to push me over the edge.

I hope you're wrong, wouldn't mind having the Duke 125 for commuting work but that never came here either.

None of their Naked street bikes were here in 12. iirc
It's sad when you look at it. The bikes don't sell because KTM has done a remarkably piss poor job at marketing their street bikes here. Any/everyone who has ridden them have basically walked away singing their praises, yet the majority of the buying public know nothing of them.
It's true. The dealer network needs to get stronger too, the only place I can buy a KTM within a few hours of me sells only off road bikes. That makes me worry about parts availability and dealer tech knowledge if I were to get one elsewhere.

+1 though the pseudo KTM dealer here could not even be successful at selling Victory motorcycles.
I almost got one, before my Duc, but was told by a good sales man, that even though I was a capable B motocrosser, that bike was a bit much for me. I listened.
Almost got what, a SuperDuke?

Which KTM?
At the EICMA KTM told that the bike will be available within a year and that it would look most likely the one on display. Though the exhaust will be different since this one will never be street legal. And they said it would be affordable, whatever that means...anyhow I am looking forward to testride it and the RC8R and the 690SM....they really have a great lineup right now.javascript:void(0);

That exact bike won't. Everyone keeps missing or glossing over this important word
Prototype. That's why it's got no light or gauges. I sure hope something close comes, and I'd like to see more KTM presence too - but keep in mind that the bike in that video isn't a production piece
It has no lights or gauges for the track, notice the tail camera and the one in the nose. A true track day weapon. All they have to do is throw that LSL headlight on it and a integrated tail light and it would be perfect.
I vote clip ons and that cool German light Celli found...

Coming from a current SD owner, I think clip-ons would actually take away from the bike's capabilities.
Probably, but aesthetically I prefer the clean lines of clip ons.

they are just on the edge of future styling and I like that

I have to agree. Their stuff doesn't look the same to me as all the other motos rollin down the road and they're certainly not afraid of putting out bikes that can really lay down some power.

How much would I need to spend to make it look just like the prototype? They teased me into the cutting edge look, then they pulled the rug from under me.

They have to "pull the rug" to meet all the regulatory BS to be able to mass produce and sell it.

i think the wheels, an undercarriage exhaust, and some bar end mirrors would be sufficient to get the look. maybe a different seat or pillion tail cover?
Looks pretty damn close to me. Powdercoat/paint the wheels, tail tidy and bar end mirrors, a carbon fender, and a new exhaust (which is a given on any bike)...and you essentially have the prototype. [thumbsup] We all knew it wouldn't get the fancy-ass forks, and that it needed gauges. The prototype seat wasn't ever realistic either (thankfully if you plan to ride it).
I think the photo quality a part of it...the prototype photos are fantastic, the production not so much.

Agree, i think people got caught up in fantasy world thinking it would be almost the same. Besides with a few mods you are going to be able to get really darn close to the prototype.
