When I was in college and working at a ski resort I once held onto the back of a ski lift chair until almost the 1st tower before letting go. I won...no one else had the balls to hang on that long. The landing felt terrible though! [laugh] Stooopid!
There's even a story of our own beloved Troy Bayliss bloodying his bare fist by punching in a gas can in his pits to demonstrate he could do it better than one of his mechanics! [laugh]

Lighter fluid? That all ya got? When I was ten to twelve years old my best friends dad was the neighborhood re-loader for all the local hunters.
He always had at least one 55 gallon drum of black powder around. We used to steal it by the gallon just and blow up just about everything we could. After two fairly significant fires in the gulleys around the neighborhood we decided to stop playing with it.
I will never forget coming home with singed hair and no eyebrows/eyelashes and looking my parents in the face and telling them I had no idea why the gulley out back was on fire and ten fire trucks were on scene..... [bang] I learned a valuable lesson that day, lying hurts far more than the truth There are few teachers better than a 2 inch wide leather belt.......

I was reflecting on the drought and the potential fire season next summer and I was remembering all the thick smoke we had. It was so bad I left town for a long weekend and on the way back it wast much better than before. As I was driving home in the evening on Hwy 97 we came to the part where the Highway drops down into the Basin where all the thick smoke had accumulated. It looked like smoke and smelled like smoke, visibility was diminished, and it was unpleasant to breath. Right about then I was passed by a van with Arizona plates. About the time he completed the pass on me, the guy flicks his cigarette out the window and sparks went flying everywhere. [bang] [bang] i was towing a small trailer and already, doing 65 in the 55 so I didn't bother to try and catch up to get his plate number, and a lot of good it would have done anyway.
Some people just don't get it.
Having lost my entire world to a fire I am a bit sensitive to butt flickers. Kinda makes me want to ride up and flick a lit butt in his window. I don't smoke though so I would have had to settle with a door blasting scare the crap out of him pass and a one fingered salute.
We had a guy this weekend pull into the oncoming lane each time we tried to get by. He did expect us to be pulled over at Ragged Point when he pulled in. I walked right up and told him he drove like crap and he better be thankful I am a nice guy... Still wanted sock him though.
Other than that one tiny blemish on a three day ride it was flat out an incredible trip. T-shirts and vented leathers on PCH in January. Wow!

There was a huge machine shop just down the street from where a cousin of mine used to live in NY.
The guys that worked there evidently used to fill ballons with oxy-acetylene mix and touch them off all the time.
One day a guy decided that if that was awesome, a 55 gallon trash bag would be even better.
Blew every window out of the warehouse and ruptured several people's eardrums.

We used to use a hydrogen torch for lead work on batteries. Balloons and hydrogen were a good bit of explosive fun.

We used to make lightning. Wrap some copper wire around a screwdriver stick it in the ground. Then we tossed the coil of copper over a power line. It was not very safe and copper was quite inexpensive..... ;D
Disclaimer, do not hold the screwdriver or stand in a puddle of water next to it, or do it in a dry area......
Shit we did as a kid that today I can't believe I didn't die/get paralyzed/need an amputation:
- surf down a flight of carpeted stairs on a boogieboard into (but not thankfully not through) stained glass windows
- roman candle wars: ten paces, light and fire away at each other. Headshots were double the points.
- a version of darts where you could stand next to the board and get points for catching your opponent's throw
- jumping off roofs: onto an pair of old mattress we found lying in the street; into a pool; onto a car; etc
- and my favorite: we used to light M-80s and throw them at stuff. But they weren't exploding quickly enough, so my friend and I would hold the M-80 in our hand in a ready-to-throw position, the other one would light the fuse and then tell the thrower when the fuse had disappeared into the body of the M-80. Then we'd throw it.
I am amazed I still have ten fingers.

Our high school shop teacher demonstrated the balloon trick every year to the newbies as a safety demonstration on oxy-ace. [evil]
