Pulled my Remus high mounts off and built a system that dumps under the swing arm. Did lobster back bends on the turns, used 1.75" piping, and TIG welded it all together. Inside the muffler I have a X pipe with Holes drilled in it then wrapped in steel wool and fiberglass. I mounted it bare to the bike, cant decide if i want to wrap it, coat it or wire wheel polish it.

Here are some pics from start to finish...
My way of getting the larger pipe to fit and flange correctly into the stock mounts

Starting the rear cylinder

Then the front

Mock up before i weld it to the muffler housing

Housing seperated and waiting for the Xpipe

X pipe before holes and install.

X pipe welded in and routed ( no holes or packing yet)

I actually cant find the pics i took of the X pipe drilled and packed, But I finished and this is it on the bike.

Are you saying that's titanium? It really doesn't look like Ti from the photos. Doesn't even look like stainless. I may be full of hooey but it looks like chain link fence post, LOL no offense. Don't weld galvanized steel. What's that bubblegum-like stuff you're using to mock the pieces up with? You plan on cleaning those welds up?

Awesome job overall. Whatever it is, if it's not corrosion proof you should coat it. [thumbsup]

Looks like a hybrid of the old roadrace exhaust (which i thought was kick-ass) and the  QD exbox..

I dig it  [thumbsup]

Oh hell no, it's not Ti... that was a typo. It's just mild steel, not SS. I didn't even brush off the welds, that's why the metal and welds look discolored and still have a little slag on them. The bubblegum stuff is hot glue. I do plan on cleaning it up but I left it as is til i decide what i will be doing, if i wire brush it then I'll clean it that way, if i wrap it then i probably wont clean it and if I ceramic coat it then the Powder coat shop will do the cleaning.

Thanks man, I was really just trying to get rid of my wheel barrel look the Remus high mounts were making with the tail chopped.

Ah, I knew it. If it's mild steel and you wrap it, you will be doing it again in stainless next year [thumbsup]

Wrap traps moisture and will turn your work into swiss cheese quickly. Forget exhaust paint under the wrap, it won't help.

Whatever you do don't ever wash the bike with water or ride in the rain.

If it were me I would smooth those welds without delay and get it ceramic coated both inside and out.

yea, if i wrap it I will powder coat it first. I don't think it will rust away as fast as you think. it is exhaust tubing... the shit under your car doesn't rust away in a yr. I think i could wire brush polish it and be fine for months until i see blemishes. Also there is no way I'm going to flapper wheel my beads and smooth them out, if people don't like looking at my raw welds then they can suck it and look at another bike. Smoothing those welds is doing nothing but trying to make it a beauty queen. I mean come on, it's a monster. When you were a kid and you thought of a scary monster did you think of something pretty and perfect? I don't want pretty and perfect... I want scary and mean.

I admire your philosophy.

Smoothing the welds has another purpose besides cosmetics. Lumpy welds rust very quickly.

I got this childhood trauma that has to do with rust as you can plainly see so don't listen to me.

LOL you'll have a scary bike I reckon!

A update.. So one thing i don't like is the front cylinder pipe runs a little to close to my kickstand when its down. and i think I'll have to point the dumps backwards a little cause the exhaust gases try to burn my right leg when sitting at the stop lights. I was thinking about building a new muffler canister and making it rebuild able but I decided to save money and time and invest it in turbo related things.
