My Model 4 has a non-adjustable round hole for the steering stem - isn't that a regular Model 4 version?

Model 2evo sounds perfect, but if it doesn't require modification...... where's the fun?  ;D

That is a Hybrid MOD4 setup for MOD2 and OEM lowers, very common for installation on non-adjustable angle Superbikes (848, 748E, 749D), Radical frames, and Monsters 02+.   The Hybrid MOD4 setup on JV's is for MOD1 and OEM type lowers, on 93-01 Monsters, the 851-888 (very few people want to modify these original superbikes though) and the Ducati Supersport!

ahh, so in your speak I'm mod2h4... i have the regular mod 4 top by the looks of it with the damper bracket, identical to the picture above but round holed. Am i able to try the steering lock bracket with this? is it available in black to match?

the only minor issue i had with fitment, and still remains, is the top triple doesn't go over the steering stem nut easily. i loosly threaded the nut on and tried to slip the top triple over, with a palm tap  [bang] , and it marked my nut! haha
it seems to be off center by about a mm. it was no biggie, i just had to loosen the lower triples fork clamps and put forward pressure on the top triple. but just letting you know.

ill try to remember to take some decent pics for you when i wash it next. It gets plenty of attention these days! and many ppl ask "who is IMA?"

oh and the only wish i have, is that i could have used a bottom triple styled like the mod 4 instead of mod 2, theyre just sooo sexy!!

Ahh, then you will be excited to see the MOD2evo lower in the near future!

For installation, how did you support the lower?  If you are supporting the lower triple from the fork bottoms, there can be some flex at the bearing area, making alignment more difficult - seeming like an overly tight fit - supporting from beneath steering stem may alleviate your issue all together!   If for some reason your item was unacceptably tight toleranced, we could always fix it for you

I hang my bike from an engine hoist with straps around the chassis, no pressure on the trees other than gravity. it was a while ago that i fitted this so its not something i would return to you guys now. Its not a big issue or something i cant get around, reason for posting was purely for feedback.

sounds like the 2evo is more stylized than the mod2...  8) ill keep an eye out but I'm not likely to buy another new lower triple just for aesthetics. the mod 2 is still good

Yes, we are updating style and materials since we are running out of existing stock - yesterday we sold last 53mm MOD1 lower (we still have some MOD1 in OEM 54mm and in Ohlins SBK 56mm on the shelves, I think).   Here is a brief MOD1-2 product line history: The original MOD2 upper was based on the profile of the MOD1, as this enabled owners to affix the original 98-99 type fairing where brackets attach to upper triple-clamp pinch bolts. The MOD1 has the contour of the OEM top triple so that all original items can be installed - this includes the fairing brackets as mentioned above, the turn signal brackets, the original handlebar risers for a 22mm handlebar, the brake-line manifold, gauges, etc.   We call this original model the "MOD1-N", as later requests for wider riser-mount spacing to accommodate variable-section handlebars as featured on the MOD2, necessitated a second MOD1 upper - the "MOD1-S", which uses the "S" to indicate the spacing.   We also received so many requests for the offset of the MOD1 to be the same as the later generation Monsters, to give it the 'easy-steering' feeling accompanying those models after 2002.

So presently, there are 3 items in the lineup
MOD1-N
MOD1-S
MOD2-S (but really it is just "MOD2", but the "S" indicates the riser spacing and which of our riser and riser-spacer lineup fit!)

All are 30mm offset, and the lower triple is very similar on the MOD1 and MOD2, but clearly the stem must be different!

The new design will retain the very popular 30mm offset (fixed), but will have interchangeable floating stems - along the same lines as our MOD4/5 lineup - an industry accepted way of staking the lower by pinch bolts and 'ledges' (also used on Attack Performance, AMS Racing, and Nichols MFG triple clamps).   This simplifies and streamlines things on the back-end for us, as the lowers for the MOD1 and MOD2 will be essentially identical, and the upper triples will be available in two versions - both with lightening grooves and some of the technology of our MOD4 upper triple - one version will have the bar riser mount holes (and we will have bar risers to go with this, of course!), and the other upper triple will be further lightened and have no mount-holes for risers - to be used with clipons only!

Most exciting is a method for installing gauges, which does not clutter the look of the upper triple for those who choose to run no gauges (like at the track), or custom gauges.   I'm am excited to reveal the final manufacture, but it is not yet ready - and drawings and prototypes and unfinished aluminum is not as exciting as you might think...  Also, I think I have mentioned it before, the new parts will be all 7075 - so every item we make is 7075 - nothing else!  (OK, the bearings and seals are not... and the bolts are stainless steel or titanium, but that does not count)
