What year? The pre ST framed bikes (up to, I think 2000 or 2001 - the ones _without_ the vertical frame tubes going up from the rear engine mount) were slightly different to the next models, the tanks are a different shape at the back. I'm not up on the details of newer models, but I'd be surprised if there weren't further differences again as the bikes changed over the last 10 years...

I've got a "spare" freshly re-covered seat for one of the old bikes - mine's a '99, so it fits the earliest bikes. (I picked up a 2nd hand one a long time ago when the covering on my original ripped, and recently found a local guy who'd recover seats at a reasonable price, so I got both of mine done. Sydney Motor Trimmers in Alexandria, just round the block from Flywheels, if anyone's wondering ~$180 to recover the monster seat, ~$220 for the slightly more complicated seat on the girl's ER5).

I could probably be convinced to trade a stock seat for a Corbin - I'm pretty much only using it as a super-lazy way to remove and refit the seat cowl for the odd occasion I carry a passenger...

Are all the seats the same (pre 2000) as my original 94 seat has to much of a slope towards the tank, I've seen the later seats are much flatter/higher
but not sure what year the change happened?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all the pre 2000 seats are the same. The 620/800/1000 injected bikes (at least the early models) all had "the new" seat and tank. I'm not sure the the few "oddball" injected 900s and 750s from 2000 and maybe 2001 got the new seat (I think the seat change was because of a change in the fuel tank, and the tank changed to fir the fuel pump inside when they went injected. I'm pretty sure that the '99 and 2000 M900Sie still used "the old" seat though.

You're welcome to borrow my spare to check both fitment, and whether it solves whatever problem the Corbin is causing you... I'm in Newtown (Sydney, Inner West), if it's convenient for you to come grab it...

Thanks for the offer Big,

Went to a local Ducati repair (ryde) who's always helpful, showed me some different year model seats,
long story short 2000++ seat has the shape I'm after but different locking pin

Anyway came home decided to pull trim off standard seat (easier than I thought) will buy some foam
or pull  old car seat apart, glue to original seat & carve to desired shape, trim looks like it has enough
to cope with extra padding then careful not to put a staple through my finger reassemble

looks easy on u-tube

worse case if things turn pear shape, corbin goes back on......hang on pear shapes what I'm after...

Cool - this is exactly what I've been gonna do to my seat ever since I bought it - It'd be cool if you could take photos of the process.

Yes I had.  I want to add to my seat though, so my concern is more that there won't be enough spare covering.

Or I could just buy a used seat from an S*R, but thus far I've not seen any for sale...

Sneaky bastards. I'll bet that catches a few who don't read the fine print and think they are bidding on the whole bike. Why describe the whole bikes condition if its not part of the auction?

Yeah it does look a bit sneaky, but if you do read it he/she mentions that you are bidding on a mirror nut 3 times, so just make sure you read before you bid.
