Typical Barbera though.  He was doing all his laps 1-2 seconds off that pace, then pulled it out of his ass.  Rossi was more consistantly near his fast time.

Barbera is the master of latching on to someone and pulling a hot lap from nowhere.

the other typical Barbera trait is that he has the "bin it or win it" kind of riding style and pushes that knife edge a little more recklessly than Rossi or Hayden...almost like he is channeling Stoner of '09 in a way...

I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

The duc really might be promising this year... in 3 days of testing they managed to drop 2 seconds off.  And the times are comparable to the yam's.  Close enough that Rossi's racecraft might be able to make up the diff.

Stoner is just that 500lb gorilla on the block though...

Final day lap times.

Vale 1.2 off Casey's pace, but Lorenzo is about half a second from Stoner. That's ridiculous and we can't say it's the Honda. Casey is riding the shit out of that bike. The times for the last 3 CRT bikes are laughable.

If it was The Ben dominating would you make this statement?
Every couple of years there is a rider who dominates, its just the way it goes.

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be happy with that either being I am not a "The Ben" fan.  [laugh]

Point is, boring racing is boring. At Indy, the XR1200 races were the best part about the whole weekend race-wise. I am beginning to want to stop having tickets given to me at this rate.  ;D

Why am I not a NASCRAP fan? Because the racing is boring.
Why haven't I watched Indy in years? Boring racing.
Why have I gotten bored with F1? Well at least F1 is making an effort. The fastest cars get "hamstrung".

I would much rather see a rider's skill winning the race rather than simply being on the fastest bike out there.
I absolutely HATE Stoner. But he can ride the wheels off any bike they put him on.
I feel the same way about Crashy McDoucheSmurf but when the kid is on, he is on.

I don't want riders crashing at every corner. That isn't exciting racing. But I do want the race to be a battle from start to finish. I mean sure...titles are great and all but how much fun is it for a guy to be out in front by 20 seconds? How about the fans?

I believe they are agreeing with you right now. 10 seconds behind?! I have not seen a rider getting lapped, unless they crashed, in years. I believe this will change this year.

Yeah, how many times do you ever see a rider get lapped in WSBK? My memory says never. Crashed out rider? OK sure but not an out and out lapped bike by the leader. Not even in Super Sport. Could be the case this year in MotoGP.

I don't think it will help the Kawis, but once the rest of them are sorted out does anyone think the extra fuel allotment for the CRT bikes will make them enough faster over the whole length of the race to keep ahead of Casey?

Who would you suggest has the skill that isn't at the front and is being held back by the bike. And who would make the decision if its the riders skill or the bikes technology

I don't know exactly why The Don has choosen to single me out in this thread and ignore the other comments, but fact is, MotoGP has not been fun to watch for a few years now.
