What happened to the diesel ranger?

Got tired of fixing it.  Parts are just too hard to come by and it's a rwd only.  Plus, it's a bona-fide antique and i really felt weird shoveling manure into the back of it ... LOL

The motor is a great one, but Mitsubishi all but closed up the parts supply from Asia on that engine so I had to order stuff from the equivalent of Auto Zone in Thailand.  ugh.

I need something a little easier to work with.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I have an 07 Tundra, which is just after the remodel.  Pretty happy with it, but I bought it used and it came with the extended bed AND the xtra cab or whatever it's called.  A bit of a pain in the ass to park at times, but super handy.

It has the big v8, so power is phenomenal.  Excellent power, good ride, fantastic brakes, good looks.  If you get a great deal on one, I'd pull the trigger.

Having said that, I considered selling it and getting something different, only because it's a bit more than I need.  I'd like a shorter bed, as I don't typically haul stuff.  But it's paid for so it stays.

Otherwise, I don't know that it's significantly (or at all) better than a Ford or such.  Personally I'm not a GM fan, but I'd go Toyota or Ford myself.

So maybe just get something that has a decent tow rating and just do the truck duties with a trailer.

^ This has merit, if you're not really using a pickup hard.

I've been toying with getting a new Jeep Wrangler and a bigger utility trailer, since these days I'm lucky to actually use my F150 to its potential maybe three or four times a year. But, as stated, the truck's paid for, reliable, blah, blah, blah...

yeah, i've gone back and forth on that.  i have a trailer, but really it's a pain.  despite it being an "air hauler" most of the time, a crew cab truck is actually pretty useful.

I thought all the Toyota haters hung out at Jalopnik or Autoblog.  :-\

Our special forces use supercharged Tacomas.

If you are looking for a smaller truck, the Tacoma can't really be beat. Though they demand a small premium, even for used.

i bought mine new in '07 because all the used ones of the same body style were selling for about the same price.

used with 30k miles for $25k or brand new for $26.3k out the door? easy decision.

5 years later, i see my year/model selling used for $17-20k...

I have a 2006 Tacoma 4X4 and love it. other than maint stuff the only problem was a front wheel bearing. When I first got it i figured the seats wouldn't last a year (cheap fealing) but have taken several long trips in it and no issues.
My wife even likes it and she wanted an SUV so the first year she hated it since it wasn't her choice. She came around

why not look at a Honda Ridgeline?

Because Honda Pilots aren't trucks.

I hate my step-daughter's, handles like a garbage truck, the steering is very sloppy and gets fuel economy I'd expect from a V8 not a V6  [thumbsdown]
