What are you thinking about? Inquiring (read: nosey [laugh]) minds want to know. [popcorn]
For now, a sub-compact DA with a slim frame and a decent capacity.  Glock 27, Ruger SR9c, etc...  I'm in a postion where I can conceal under a light jacket or a sportcoat on the job, so other than an a full-size or a wide, hi-capacity compact I'm probably OK.

I ruled out 1911-style action because I don't trust myself to manipulate the controls properly in a pressure situation without first undergoing substantial training.  I'll get there eventually, but I'm not there yet.

I also ruled out the pocket gun "carry a lot, shoot a little" crowd - Ruger P3AT / PF9, LCP380 because none of them really felt controlable during firing... the small size and lack of weight had follow-up shots flying all over the paper.  I think this would be overcome with practice and training as well, but, again, I'm not there yet.

I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I've got an SR9c and really like it.

I plan to carry it (paperwork is filled out, just haven't had time to take it in)

It's reasonable from a weight and size standpoint, the small mag holds 10 and the large one holds 17.  I think you could carry it with either mag and conceal it well enough.

I had it out last night just to fondle it.  I really need to get some range time in :P

May I ask what you paid?

Most of the shops around here have them stickered just under $400, and I've seen these not selling for $350 NIB on auction sites... after shipping, tax and FFLs that's basically four bills.

Boy, I can't remember.  More than that.  I checked the website and they list the MSRP as $529.  I think I paid $450 or so.

Great gun for $400, sounds like a deal.

Don't have a Ruger SR9c (but I do have a Ruger LCP "mouse gun" [thumbsup]) but I bet it's a good one! ML can vouch for them. The Glock 26/27s are great too. A little thick but not too much so. I've got medium size hands so fat boys like Glock 20/21s are a handful (yes, pun intended! [laugh]) but they are too big to hide in carry mode anyway on an average sized person. But the 26/27 class pistols are fine. If you seriously consider a 26/27 Glock go with the magazine "finger lip" extensions offered by aftermarket folks. So equipped the pistols are easier to control when shooting and they take nothing away in concealability. I also have the factory "finger lip" magazines for the little LCP and it makes a big difference in fire control.

Good luck with the pistol hunt! [popcorn]

Any suggestions for removing the anodizing from a stripped AR lower?  I need to take it back to bare aluminum. I have read that Easy Off oven cleaner works, but that was from a guy on a bike forum removing decorative anodizing, not hard anodizing. Has anyone successfully done this?

Sorry Z, no help. Just curious, why are you taking it down to the metal? [popcorn]

+1

Anodizing is part of the surface so you actually remove metal to do it.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

A guy on another Duc board built a home anodizing kit, and my wife wants a rather colorful AR. I was hoping I could use one of my lowers instead of trying to find one in the white.   She likes the metallic look of anodized more than the duracoat look.

Update on the 1911 project. The slide has shipped, and the parts list is being put together. Looking at doing an Ed Brown bobtail.

Your local anodizer can strip it and re-anodize it for you.

She saw Sons of Guns, didn't she?   ;)
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

I'm pretty sure that she would be offended by the suggestion  ;D  No, the idea came from Vader Spade on AR-15.com

Here is a pic of his work.
