ahhh okay, now I see what you're saying, concerned about Radial oscillation/movement..

I'm surprised to hear that the expert opinion of people like yourself.

No expert here. [roll]
Just thought i could see a potential problem.
When it comes to brakes i think it is wise to err on the side of caution.
And don't get cheap.
I'm sure Mick is quite cluey and will sort it.
But in the hands of some green horn could be a  potential disaster? :-\

Mr.S2R

love the amount of help drivers give you in peak hour whilst your on your ass picking your bike up - and thanks to the lady who barged through traffic to cause said mishap, then quickly vanish in to the distance... [bang]

LOGIC  101

An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine this week:

"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the
Iraq Theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112
deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period.
That means you are about 33 per cent more likely to be shot and killed
in the US capital which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the U.S., than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: The U.S. should pull out of Washington
Secret to a long relationship is........Keep the fights clean and the sex DIRTY"!

yes I am ok other than bruised ego - fortunately I have the good sense to ride to work in full leathers as opposed to the khaki wearing 3/4 pants with truckers singlet safety attire which seems to be the appropriate safety gear at the moment contrary to what Sir Mick (the other Sir Mmick) says in his ads.

As for the incident - there I was slowly coming up to an intersection in Adelaide peak hour, which is a mere trickle compared to Paramatta Rd. HOWEVER, the big difference in the eastern states is that people generally accept there are other road users, including motorcyclists.  The mindset here is "I own the road therefore out of my way".  This is where we come to said lady who decides to join the flow of traffic from a street on the other side of the road to me, and directly at me.  I was in neutral going along at about 15km/hr but my attention was diverted by the crazed woman coming at me kamikaze in a burgundy late 90's Camry (and yet I didnt catch the plate go figure).  I had about half a car length to the car in front of me, which I thought was ample given the speed.  At the same time the traffic suddenly stopped suddenly in front of me so, startled at both the traffic stopping and Mrs Yamamoto, I grabbed the brakes (amazing how much pressure you can apply with two fingers - ask Mr Spock), the front locked, folded, and I landed flat on my side.  I had the presence of mind to flick the kill switch whilst on my side and I was up and olympic lifting (I cant say clean and jerk as I can hear the titters now from all of you) my poor girl back on her wheels.  Fortunately I didn't hit the back of the nice new Holden SS wagon in front of me.  Mrs Banzai took advantage of the gap, which I had generously created in traffic whilst picking my bike up, and disappeared post haste.

I am not blaming anyone but myself for this - I know I should compensate a bit more for the caged lunatics but this really caught me by surprise on how quickly everything happened.  Thankfully it was at such a slow speed.  Sum damage to my lovely girl was a scratched bar end and very slightly bent and scratched brake lever.  Frame sliders - best purchase ever!!!

Thanks for your concern Jukie Rendand and Mmick.   [thumbsup]

Sorry to hear about your incident Mr.
Thanks - and yes it was an incident!  Just wonder if I had a modern Monster how well the ABS would of reacted to that scenario.  Not that I am trading my Monster for a Diavel now.... [laugh].  Still wont prevent the percentage of oblivious road users in this world...

Mr.S2R's incident aside ... it is good to see some activity on the forum again. The last 24 hours seems to have had more posts than I can remember for a long time ... and there has even been quite a bit of bike talk.

Sad to hear this Bazz. They should make it compulsory for all drivers to pass a bike test too before they get a pass on the road
