M600 side stand - how to upgrade/improve?

Hi,

I've got a 1998 M600 and would like to improve or replace the side stand. Like all Ducati's the bike leans way over on the stand and it has toppled over a few times (once when loaded for touring and once while being serviced "on the road"). I've already got the obligatory piece of wood to put under the stand.

Some time ago I bought a centre stand from an ST2 but it's not going to fit the M600 easily, if at all. I've seen pics of an ST2 stand on a M900 which fitted after some heating and bending.

Any suggestions on how to make the stand "safer" or are there other better stands that fit?

Cyclecat are back in production and a sponsor to the forum they have billet side stands 1" longer not sure for your model ( email them )
Not cheap though i need one as well but will try screwing a lump of aluminium to the bottom of it first ,thats on my next thing to do list.

The design intent with the DKS side stands was to address the modifications to ride height made by many Monster owners, as well as make it possible to improve the resting angle on many Monsters equipped, as stock, with side stands which seem a little too short, resulting in an extreme, and often alarming, attitude for the bike when parked. We wanted to accomplish this with a very strong, very stable solution which was not only lighter than the stock piece, but hopefully, more beautiful as well.

Hi Rob s,

Thanks for the info. I've emailed Cyclecat about availability, pricing and postage.

update: very quick reply from Cyclecat: Sold out, I can back order but no ETA on new stock.

Looking for other options...

Still looking for a replacement or mod that will make the side stand longer.

Cyclecat stands are still out of production (October).

Are the M600 -M900 stands the same type and length (24cm)? Would a stand from another model fit?
