I know. That's why I always go into the Parts Dept. first to see what's on hand.  Had to special order stuff more than once to make sure it was there before I took the bike in. Be careful about getting sucked into the valve adjust stuff. It sure isn't anything like adjusting valves on the 2 valvers.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Valve adjustment is pretty much on my "not to do" list.

??? ???

You have a way of being on the smooth path most of the time.  It will be awkward for me showing up for service with a backpack full of out-sourced parts.  I guess I feel it's the dealers right to make a little money on the parts associated with the service.  Taking your own $30 worth of spark plugs to the show rather than paying their $80 is the wisdom I referred to.

By paying them $100's for the "major service" without changing the belts left me feeling like I had gained nothing aside from them resetting the service light.

Didn't exactly take a backpack full of parts, took my own sparkplugs plus belts that I had purchased from SSD weeks earlier... ;D

Not long after I purchased my bike a little bird told me about parts shortages there...also changed my own oil ahead of time using SSD purchased oil & filter.

I like to support the local dealership, but $48 per sparkplug was too rich for this old retiree... :o

have some bike weirdness, drill a few holes, exercise in futility because we have an idiot apprentice, chicken and beer.

what is the point in making four shitty parts when we only needed one good one??  [bang]

in a bag, for me to finish, with his shift log entry as "lathe work complete."  this is the second time I've had to follow this kid's work, and he's been crap both times

Your log entry: "re-completed 'complete lathe work' for the second time"

Went over Tantalus on the bicycle yesterday evening.  Whew.  Haven't done that in a dogs age. I reckon I'm ten to fifteen times slower on the Seven than on the 848.  [laugh]  Got to scope out some new lines. Some nasty rubbish in places that will be hell if the road is wet when we go through there. The trees that went down and were cleared out will help in other places though. Legs feel pretty good today and that's a nice surprise.   [Dolph]
