Well ML, I'm now running, some of the time, a vertical CNC lathe with a 10 ft. chuck, big giant stuff.   The rest of the time, a Haas.    A load of overtime, things are going very well, I might be looking at a Multistrada 1200S, or KTM SuperDuke, or most likely, a Tuono V4.   The wifey says, save, save, save, I say, screw that, I'm not going to be able to work like this forever, I want to take advantage right now.   And I just upped my life insurance, so everything should be peachy for her if I drop dead in front of a machine, or do something stupid on a motorcycle (hey fellas, watch this!).

Sounds like fun (except for the Haas part ;)  )

Don't work yourself to death.  It's not worth it.  My part timer has worked like 45 days straight at his regular job.  It'll be years before I see (personally) the sort of income he's getting right now.  I like my weekends.  He doesn't know what those are.

10' chuck huh. . .  I always liked those machines because you could take a big cut (if the operator could stomach it)  I did some insert testing a while back on a wind turbine bearing race.  We were facing at like a .200" depth of cut at a .030 or .033 ipr feed.  It ripped metal :D

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

Been making some neat stuff lately.

A few pics-

A finished part sitting on top of the rest that are done on the first side, waiting on the 2nd op.

These parts get split after machining.  I devised a simple fixture to hold them in place while the band saw does the chopping...
