:DIn keeping with what seems to be the DMF standard of Italian motorcycles and German cars.
We got our confirmation e-mail and welcome package (Fedex).
On June 26th we take delivery of Sharon's (Mrs. sno_duc) new BMW at the BMW Welt  Am Olympiapark 1, 80788 Munich.
The car is a 328 xi coupe, Orion Silver, Beige leather, Nav system, premium package, cold weather package, convience package.
Leave Anchorage on the 23rd, arrive Frankfurt 1015 on the 24th, ride the ICE train (3.5 hours) to Munich.
On the 26th, pick up car, factory tour, museum, and then drive to Salzburg.
From Salzburg head sw to Merano Italy.
On to Lindau.
Heidelberg for a couple of days.
Drop off car in Frankfurt on the 6th of July, and fly home on the 7th.
A conclusion is the place you got tired of thinking

Very cool. I'm thinking about doing the euro delivery myself with my next BMW. Have you done this before?

Sharon and I meet up with my dad in '09 when he picked up his 135.
After seeing that and getting a chance to drive in Germany, the seed was planted.
This will the first time for one of our cars.

Which Bimmer are you thinking about?

alright, alright

Call me poor if you want.... ;D

But what is going on? You go to Germany, and test drive your own car before they ship it to the US? Or are you renting a car for a week in Germany from BMW?

I'm pretty confused by this  [laugh]

You pick up your US spec car at the Welt (delivery center) across the street from BMW corporate HQ, the BMW museum, and the factory where 3er's are built.
They provide 2 weeks ( 2 weeks is free, up to 6 months if you're willing to pay extra) of european insurance and a Zoll plate (tourist plate and registration), and you save 7 % off us msrp. (covered our airfare plus a few hundred)
The pluses are ordering exactly what you want, the savings (offset by travel costs), taking delivery with all zeros on the odometer (Sharon will put mile 1 on the clock), and a chance to drive the autobahn ( there are still stretches with no speed limit)
The downside is having to order months in advance and then wating 6 to 12 weeks for re-delivery.

Currently I drive a 135 with the M-sport package, she drives a 335xi. So I know exactly what you're talking about, the n54 / n55 is a sweet motor, the "is" version even more so.  [thumbsup]
Couldn't justify the additional cost over the 328 for HP that we never get a chance to use. (highest speed limit in Alaska is 65, in our area 55)

If you don't ever use the back seat, you might look at the 135.

Don't forget the equivalent of about $10.00/gallon for fuel  :)

Currently â,¬1,72 per liter for 98 octane (~$8.50 a gallon) and above 100 mph the fuel economy sucks  [evil]
Still passing a  [leo] at 100 +  and being legal is priceless  ;D

The novelty of the autobahn wore off pretty quickly for me, it was fun to go as fast as your car could, but they have so many spots slowing you down, i eventually warped my rotors from going way to fast to way to slow.  I think i settled on about 90 as a good cruising speed for long trips when I was there.

the other + that I have read is the time they spend with you explaining your car to you in the delivery process at the plant unlike what the sales people at the dealership....huge difference...

congrats and enjoy the trip....
