You pick up your US spec car at the Welt (delivery center) across the street from BMW corporate HQ, the BMW museum, and the factory where 3er's are built.
They provide 2 weeks ( 2 weeks is free, up to 6 months if you're willing to pay extra) of european insurance and a Zoll plate (tourist plate and registration), and you save 7 % off us msrp. (covered our airfare plus a few hundred)
The pluses are ordering exactly what you want, the savings (offset by travel costs), taking delivery with all zeros on the odometer (Sharon will put mile 1 on the clock), and a chance to drive the autobahn ( there are still stretches with no speed limit)
The downside is having to order months in advance and then wating 6 to 12 weeks for re-delivery.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal  [thumbsup]

Why did VW not offer this when I bought my Golf?  [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

Just ordered a 328i. I wish the dealer had told us about this as we want to go visit some friends in Germany anyway. Did you have more ordering options like being able to get xenons without spending $3600 on the full premium package? I would delete the sunroof if i could as we've used ours over the past two leases maybe 5 times.

wadded a 335is a few months ago.  :'(
Completely my fault.
Thinking about the exact same car again, or perhaps an M3.

The probability of you having a friend to go with you will be greatly increased with it being an M3. Just sayin...

Hell, I think I could squeeze a second ED into next summers calender.
Every heard of Nürburgring ??  ;)  [evil] How about Stevlio pass? Need a co-driver with recent ED experience?? (rates are reasonable  [drink]  [drink]  [drink] every  night)

Isn't the 335is the official car of the 99% ? There's a certain standard that needs to be upheld. ;)

Naw, seriously, I'm so totally down for whichever, just urging you on te path of the M3 as its the one I want. Closest thing I can come to owning one right now ;)

About a month before your (our) delivery date everything gets locked in (up to that point you can change the order), Sharon spent an hour with our sales person out on the lot with interior chips (leather and trim) next to the only Orion Silver car on  the lot. Our intial choices were good.  8) After spending that much time on colors, blue jeans just wouldn't cut it.

On our next ED (a few years from now), going to stay at Zell am See, Austria (close to the Grossglockner), get up about 5 am, and drive the Grossglockner strasse before all the tour busses get roling. That road was awesome. Explains the hundres of sportbikes from D,A,I,CH,CZ,F. (I watch plates, saw M-B from RO)
