Anyone ever have a PFT (pulmonary function test)?

Had one this morning.  All numbers normal except for the DLCO Adj.  26.6 is "normal". Mine is 12.8 or 48th percentile.

Interesting (?) reading on low DLCO on the interwebs.   :P

So it looks like your lungs can't defuse gases properly. Do they suspect the surface area of your lungs have been damaged?

Stella

It was just the test today with the pulmonary people. My doc will get the same report i was given for a review then we'll likely talk about how to deal with it.  Don't know if there is damage caused by something or if it's of the idiopathic nature.  There are a few idiots in the family, myself included, so that's my guess.   ;)

Typically with a reading that low there likely is some sort of damage, but I could be entirely wrong. I hope for your sake that it is nothing serious and just what it is....a low capacity of your lungs due to your family genes!!!!

Why yes, as a matter of fact I did indeed inhale a large quantity of salt water recently.  And come to think of it, I do live in Denver - the mile HIGH city where pot smoking is legal. Could be from all of that second hand smoke...

Maybe a new test in a week or two is in order.  I am somewhere in the same range as you, I don't remember the exact number.  I couldn't even imagine doing the triathlon you just did.
