ARGHHHHHH!

The stupid broken washing machine saga continues.

First of all, when they called two days ago to confirm the appointment for today, they advised that the technician would be able to call me 45 minutes before they were scheduled to arrive so I could leave work then, instead of at noon and sitting at my house all day.

They called at 4:05PM, and advised they were 20 minutes out.  [bang] [bang]

Thankfully, they waited until I got home at 4:40PM.

They found the pump (attached to the recently replaced motor) to be loose, and apparently a timer that needed to be replaced as the machine was not "pausing" during the rinse cycle to cause it to spin out and empty the water.

They quoted me another $100+ for another part that needed to be ordered.

I told them I wasn't paying for it and that it sounded like the technician mis-diagnosed the problem in the first place.

Much to the current technician's credit, he offered to refund what I had paid already (minus the service call fee).

Now I just need to go shopping for a new washer.  [bang]

Any suggestions?

little is worse than working for a Shit-Sucking Lickspittle who thinks they can climb the ladder by kissing up while pissing down.

I've come to the conclusion its time to move on. I think I'm going to try a bold move and change careers. Love the job, just can't take "Shit-Sucking Lickspittle" any longer. Maybe a little time in my own cube will do me good. Consider it a personal time out for not leaving sooner.

Having a hard time not just getting up, walking out and getting on the bike, heading off in some random direction and not stopping until I need gas.

Doesn't help I got this today:

Ryan,

We need to get you set up with a company phone for after hours on-call for AV and encryption issues. I know it wasn't in the original S.O.W. you signed but we went ahead and revised it to show this and I signed it for you.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Kurt

Me back to Kurt:

Kurt,
While typically, I wouldn't have a problem with an on call rotation, it was not part of the S.O.W. and contracts that *I* signed. And the revision was neither presented to nor approved by me. That being said, AV and encryption simply don't have after hours issues. In the time that I have been here, there has only been 1 issue reported after hours to the encryption group and that ended up being an AD issue not a Safeguard issue. If a true issue were to arise, those who need it, have my personal contact information and also know in what instances that they should use it. I also have email alerts set up with monitoring to notify me via my personal email and text messages when one of my application or DMZ servers is offline for whatever reason.
I think it is time that we sit down and discuss a few things that seem to have changed drastically and without my consultation since you took over management of the team. I will check your calendar and get you a meeting invite set up for later today or first thing Monday as this is something we need to get resolved ASAP. I would also like to discuss my raise at that time. I was promised adjusted compensation at the completion of my projects by our previous manager but have yet to see that reflected in my pay.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
Ryan

So he immediately comes down to my desk and says that I seem to be very confrontational lately and that he only has my best interests at heart. I said that we could discuss it in the meeting that I had just sent him and invite for. He sort of sighs and goes back upstairs. Next thing I know, he declines the meeting invite and doesn't offer an adjusted time.

Yay for someone who can't deal with actual issues when they arise.
BTW, those were direct copies of the email exchange...I hardly think I was being confrontational anywhere in my reply.

By definition, anyone who writes "I know it wasn't in the original S.O.W. you signed but we went ahead and revised it to show this and I signed it for you." cannot have your best interests at heart.

But you knew that.

Exactly. Just another in the long list of shit that will make it far easier for me not to feel guilt when I quit.

Any chance of going over your bosses head to his boss and get his ass in a sling for signing your name?

Not forging my sig, just negotiating my contract and SOW for me.

I have always been a bit of a conundrum to the team as I literally don't do anything that interacts with the rest of the team my manager is over. My position is more along the lines of what our Enterprise Info Protection team does. So a completely separate and individual contract and SOW were written up for me. Myself, the old manager and our liaison with the company we consult for signed those when I got hired.

The new one has the modifications and in my signature location it says, "Signed in absentia by Kurt XXXXXXXX"

Any employer who claims to have your best interests at heart

and isn't saying it while they are writing out a check to you

or approving your salary increase treatment

is FULL OF SHIT

You work for a shit sucking lickspittle of a coward.  Being "Direct"  is not "confrontational"....it is being "Professional"

Do not act-out or get angry...it is a far far more effective and devastating approach to calmly cite his flaw-ridden actions,

and then proceed to shove them inch by bloody inch up his ass with a clinically detached impassiveness

provide professional impersonal analysis as to their impact on you and the company and the company you serve

never argue your personal position...put their positions/actions on the table and beat them senseless with them

call it the artillery approach...turn them into defensive and defenseless rubble and then roll over them....

people who attempt to advance their ideas/actions/positions like they're battering rams ..........get doused in boiling oil

At this point you might be better served doing your exchanges with him via email so you have a complete audit trail that you can lob to his boss or 2 levels up

Another hard and fast rule is to never shoot unless you are certain you can knock them out of the game entirely

don't leave career-maimed or injured coworkers around...they will come back to haunt you
This is an insult to the Pez community

I just need to shit or get off the proverbial pot. The same cycle from the last job I walked away from is happening here. I just need to do what makes me happy and stop worrying about trying to put out someone else's fires.
