I love my Touareg. Can't believe they got rid of the V8 though. I love that motor. 4.2L V8 350hp 300 lb-ft of torque. That thing moves!

Just wish I could have gotten the V10 diesel though 554 lb-ft of torque  :o [drool]

My wife talked me into getting our E class wagon and I'm glad she did. Its a real nice car and the dealership is nice to deal with. I feel like they take care of us when we go in. It came with the built in Nav system which is much better than having something stuck to the window. Even though ours is a little dated now compared to newer aftermarket systems, having it integrated into the car is fantastic. I would get the Nav system.

the VW diesel is expensive, more so than the GLK if we are comparing to the Toureg still.  I wanted one till I saw the price.  Wasn't it being phased out?
I also have to agree with Mendo Dave about the Benz service, first class and you pay for that kind of service.  I get loaners for so much as alignments and trivial one hour stuff.  I obviously do it so I can "test" other cars of course.  [evil]
Can we thin the gene pool?

For some reason, people are deterred from the VW Toureg Diesel from the "blue fluid" that must be added to the exhaust system. I've talked to several VW Mechanics and Salesmen alike and all think it is just bad press. All you have to do is have it topped off when you change the oil every 10k miles. That's it.

Then again.......the difference of a VW and Benz are quite different. Maybe they have the disposible income to purchase a Mercedes over a VW. Nothing wrong with that. I could have bought my wife a cheaper car that was probably more reliable, but bought her a Maserati. Just depends on what you want to spend and the experience you want.

the "Blue Fluid" was origionally developed by MB and badged in their cars as "BlueTech"....so they have the same fluid...trust me...MB owners generally don't complain about much because statistically speaking...they are not 1 car owners or solely dependant on that car and are generally finacially insulated enough that the $$ added to the service for the fluid (which is stupid ass cheap BTW) is peanuts in comparo to what they are spending for the rest of the service....

I enjoy testing other cars too. And they have delicious cookies and pastries to eat in the comfy furniture over in the waiting area. Big cookies too not those little cookies that come out of a package. Some times Ronnie Lott comes by and you get to talk to him about football and stuff (He owns the dealership I go to) But yea I like that they say "it will be a couple of hours to do that, was there anything you need to do? Why don't you take this car, [hands the keys over] we'll call you when it's done and you can come and pick it up.

I don't get that at GM or Ford.

I know its and old thread

Taking Howies advice.. We looked at the Q5 and Q7, loved them both (the deal would be the deciding factor).  Problem was every Audi dealership we went to threw us MSRP, one dealer experience (that a friend of mine referred me to) went like this:

Salesman - "So putting in all of the options 'calculator clicks etc' here is what we can do for you, AND that's with the employee referral"

Me - "Ah, so.. the referral price is MSRP? im afraid to ask what the price without would be" (Made it obvious I knew my shit, prices, pkgs, everything)

They called back with 1k off but I said don't waste my time.

Ended up buying the ML350 pretty much loaded, got it for $1,500 under invoice from an dealer friend of mine.  The GLK was not an option considering its competitor the Audi Q5 is cheaper, looks better, drives better, better equipped (standard), better mileage, lets just say better period.  Also, a fully loaded GLK was #1 hard to find (had to be special ordered) and #2 fully equipped the GLK would be only maybe about 5k cheaper than the ML350.  I wanted the Diesel/Bluetec however its special order and no guarantee that it'll make it here in 2012.  Wifey was PISSED she had to drive that wrangler all summer (no A/C), I have been putting around on a 250 during the rain and the monster all other days, and said find the damn gas one and get it.  So getting back to my can of chicken noodle soup thanks to vegas, guns, mortgage, and this new car payment... thanks again for the earlier opinions, definitely helped!
