Ride forever...

I'm on the fence about this bike...seen a number of concerns reading the European forums who had a chance to ride them :(
The smoke and FBW issues make me wonder how well this bike was designed.
I'll wait and see  how things shake out.
Might do a test ride next week though ;D

Zaster, what have you heard?  Curious minds want to know!!
If you love your bike, set it free.
If it comes back to you, you've
probably high-sided.

There was a big stink about the bike smoking quite a bit during the break-in period. ;D
Several guys reported that the bike engine would cut out at a certain gear and RPM and that
they could replicate it at will.
One reported a non start situation after he had the bike for less than 24 hrs.
The dyno tests don't seem to support Ducati's claims when it comes to HP.
...and as always, Ducati is very slow to respond or to provide answers [bang]

Here in Asia they launched it with the Diesel Monster. In typical style here, they closed off a block by the Olympic park & had a Local team guy haulin' ass through the streets. It was pretty cool to see. As far as problems & recalls are concerned, Is anyone even slightly surprised that a first year redo of a Ducati wouldn't be cursed? Me, I'm just sad that they had to "Jap" it all up, hence the magazines praising it now. The headlines should read, "Welcome to the dark side & out of the dark ages, Pasta Rocket"   Don't get me wrong, Suzuki geometry & "Alumasizing'" (my new word) with the Buell thought process of  "keep it down low"  are all great things, but if I wanted that, I would go get one. I'm also guessing they have the Bugs/Demons worked out by now. Wait...not Buell...They squashed that bug.       It's kinda' like Porsche making SUV's & 4-door sedans...WTF. That's not evolution, that's desperation.  Ferrari should just put out a double cab pick-up & get it all over with.

That all said, The 2012 R1 LE left me shakin', very much like the last night I got to cuddle with DDGM before heading overseas. Ahhhh memories.
I promise to make better mistakes tomorrow.

King, I left you drained, not just shakin big boy.

zaster, keep me posted on the bike rumors.  I havent seen many English sites with poor reviews.  I will most likely wait a year to get it then...let them get the kinks out.

That's my plan unless I come across a great deal in the meantime.
Factory suspension or linkage set up seems to be an issue. The factory setting is F and many prefer P.
Hard starting while the engine is at operating temp seems to be another concern.
Doing a test ride when PJ's gets the demo will help my decision.

Interesting, the two German bikes take top honors ;D

Buddy of mine bought a tricolore panigale.  Road it home from the dealership last week and had them come pick it up.  Says below 8k rpm its a POS...said a Monster 800 had more get up and go.  Above 9K it was a beast.

hmmmm

That's why I decided to do a test ride to see if all the hoopla is fact or hype.
The horsepower claims are exaggerated (not that I need it) and I just heard of
a soft paint issue reported by several people.
