So there I was riding my mountain bike back from my favorite trail and I saw the Ducati Hypermotard semi set up at Cook's Corner on the 4th of July. I grabbed my neighbor and fellow Ducatisti and headed back to Cook's for the demo ride.   I must say it was really strange drinking espresso at Cook's corner which is Harley/Cruiser bar for those of you not from So Cal.  [coffee]  The two guides took 5 of us for a ride.  We headed through Santiago Canyon to Irvine lake and turned around. My neighbor wasn't able to make the return trip as his motard's tranny locked up?  :-X. So they sent a truck back for him and the rest of us continued on our ride. By the time we finished up he was pulling in to Cook's with the Ducati in the back.  Don't think he got jipped out of a ride, they made it up to him.  He proceeded to hop on a different one and went off on a way more "spirited" ride than our group went on. [moto].  We even managed to freak out his wife as I took his car home and they dropped him off later with a brand new bike in the back of the truck... I might have convinced her while he was out riding that he was purchasing a new bike and would be back shortly... ;D

Anyway I really like the 1100 as opposed to my S2R 800, but definitely prefer the monster to the hyper.  If the rumors are true and they put that motor in the new Monster I would definitely be on board for that. They also had a Roland Sands version of the Hyper, which with straight pipes sounded like a harley.
I'm still trying to figure out how to insert pictures here.

are you an OCDC member?  I got an email about this a couple days before it happened.

Just a thought.

That'll be the RSD Hyper on the June cover of Cycle World, definately the best Hyper I've ever seen.  When it first came out I was seriously comsidering getting one but I couldn't get past that beak-thing under the headlight, RSD (Roland Sands Design) carved off the beak and it looks GREAT!
Give a man a beer, and he wastes an hour.
Teach a man to brew, and he wastes a lifetime.
