Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can find the Ducati soft pannier for the single-sided swingarm models? The part number is 196740303BA.

Google the correct part number (the first digit 1 needs to be removed) and you'll get many results - of which at least one will actually have it in stock. ...or maybe ebay.

You'll probably have to call/email a few before you get lucky, but that might be worth it.



PS - if you have chopped the tail it won't work - the bracket is connected under the beer tray.

that's not a valid part number, and the soft pannier doesn't show up in the catalogue anymore.

Thanks for the quick responses. Correct, i C+P'd the incorrect part number. Should be 96740303BA. I'm assuming it's only been discontinued recently as Ducati USA has it listed on their site, along with other suppliers. I've contacted a few without much luck so far, hence why I wondered if someone on the forum know of a secret stock of them somewhere!

No tail chop on my S2R so I'm hoping it should fit right on. I'm looking forward to riding without a backpack for once!

Let us know how you like the single side bag please. I'm still looking for options. My last plan was to make a riser from foam that straps to the seat so I can use my sport saddle bags but they stay a little higher and don't sit on the exhaust.

For what it's worth, I actually got to compare luggage with a fellow Monster rider I ran into at a highway gas station and storage/convenience aside, there were gas mileage differences. 

His bike:  06 S2R 1000 stock (including stock gearing) with baffled Termi Pipes using Givi saddle bags (both sides) and a bigger duffel strapped to the Givi rack points. 

My bike: 05 S2R 800, udder only with a 14T on the front and a LARGE Kuryakyn bag just strapped the hell down to my pillion seat. 

His average mileage for that trip: around 32-36 (normally around 40)

My mileage:  51, and I've gotten 55 when there's a lot of fast moving traffic.  Drafting for the win.

Point is, he even said he could feel the extra wind resistance going around semis or if there were elevated gusts, so if you have the chance to just get a large tail bag in conjunction with a large tank bag, it may be worth it, just in gas.

Hmm, I hadn't thought about added drag on the bike with saddle bags. You don't by chance have a photo of the S2R with the givi frame. I have been looking for one for a while. Also with the frame is the space from the seat the same on both sides or does the saddle bag on the exhaust side stick out more?

I think this is about the setup he had.  It's just two bicycle style paniers racks that mount to the frame and the bags just hang to the sides.  They make it to conform to the stock exhaust/any high mount right side exhaust so it shouldn't be a problem unless you have a dual side high mount setup. 

Here's the bag I've been using.  I had to implement an extra strap for it to be up to MY standards of secure, but I was intentionally throwing the bike around to give her a test and it's definitely sturdy.  Huge too.  I pack light, so I could probably live for 5-7 days out of this thing.

I bought the Givi racks, then decided just to get e second bike for touring, and will be chopping my tail... so I'll probably try to sell my Givi (never even got to the point of ordering saddlebags)... but yes, the exhaust side sticks out further than the chain side. I can grab a pic tomorrow when I'm in he same city as my bike.

Question! I have been trying to find someone that has seen the givi soft bag frame for the S*R bikes for a while. When the frame is on is it spaced the same on both sides from the frame? or does it stick out more on the exhaust side?

Been there, done that.

Wasn't able to get a pic of them this weekend, but if you're interested in a back shot with them on, I can see if I can get to my bike to do that.
