Hello all!  I graduated BCT @ Ft. Benning on 6 June, 2012.  It was quite an experience at age 34.  I gave up a lot to make it happen (work, LWOP, and most importantly time with the family [not to mention 2012 ECM!]) but it was work the sacrifice.  My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner in my life!  I was in 2BN 47th Inf Bravo company 1st platoon roster number 102 :D

I came out a Spec (E4), and have a OCS date in early Jan.  If all the stars stay aligned, I'll be through OCS and on to Ft. Rucker in April to begin flight school.  I didn't give up (can't :( ) my FAA career, but instead did what I could and joined the GA National Guard.  8 year contract which doesn't really begin until I get MOSQ'd sometime in 2013.

I lost 27 lbs total, went from a measly 195 PT score to a hair under 250, and have tons of energy now!

If anyone is headed to Benning and has questions, or just has questions/comments I'll be glad to chat about it.

All in all it wasn't bad, and I actually miss some of it already!  My wife should get the medals and accolades....she kept the house squared away with 3 little kids running around (4,2, and new) while I was gone 10 weeks.  All I had to do was run faster, push the ground more, and stay on target!

I know that boot camp tends to be a large affair... but did you run into a kid by the name of Porter Andrew (Andy) Smith?  Just curious, cause he went there as well...

HOOAH!

Good going man. I know what you are saying about missing it after it's over. My first 3 or 4 weeks at AIT was so unstructured and having to actually think for myself...damn I hated that. lol

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
