"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Grampa

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

So I went solo.  -Me

Details on the BMW?

1952 R51/3

Needs minor work, magneto and  engine was rebuilt by me.  Needs new carbs to run.  Brakes are good, but I would get new perches and cables.

Whopping 25hp.  Turning radius is about 180m

You need a dealer plate.  8)

I rarely sell anything...  about half of the stuff on the shelves I brought over from Italy on one of our holidays there.

They are good for shows and that' about it.  Riding it would be terrifying if you could go over 50mph.  it steers like a VW bus.

Want another hobby? [roll] They start to get good (for cruising) with an R90S and R90/6 as long as you fit an electronic ignition. Cute too with large tank and Euro bars. /7 addresses some of that "old school" stuff but less cute.

Mild suspension fixes well-understood. Maybe some old geezer has a clean one somewhere. Keep your eyes peeled. Bob's BMW in MD knows most of the old stuff. I toyed with the idea of a 90/6 for putting around when I retired but opted for an EFi T-100 as it was just easier and as reliable as a stone ax. Had to still spend quite a bit on suspension. They're horrible stock. The R90/6 was rideable out of the box but "floaty". Good for bad backroad though. Also takes time to get used to 8" of front suspension unless you grew up with that!  ;)

So, the real question: Since there is no way you can have time to ride all those, can I borrow one when I come back east?  [evil]
