I'm researching aftermarket sprockets/carriers.

My research through DP catalogue and a few trustworthy manufacturers and vendors tells me that most/all aftermarket sprocket end up misaligning things by a mm or two.

I plan to get a laser tool to check before and after.

How would you fix a misalignment?

i swear i posted in this thread already... maybe im going nuts.

theres a spacer behind the sprocket, its part 12 on the parts manual you could just shim that. i threw a new sprocket on and it look straight visually, no problems after 800 miles.

Strange - you did and I saw it. There was a broken connection at one time, which made me rewrite the post.

As for you going nuts - certainly possible

What is the symptoms of misaligned sprockets?  My duc goes a rattling (not the dry clutch) and then at higher rpms it is gone?

Any idea?

I've gone through a couple of set ups now...
One of them had a machined 525 rear sprocket - equals 520, but mounted with the single machined surface inboard it was off by "a little" - enough to shave off some aluminum at high speeds.
So, my experience is that it's better if front and rear are alligned ~perfectly.

I had no other symptoms than the shavings.
You probably need more than "a little" to have other more serious symptoms.

800 sprocket floats with the lock plate holding it on like most other motors, 1000 has the big nut introduced with the teststretta.

i'd probably space the rear on a sss.  depends how far off and to where.

What are the signs of misaligned sprockets apart from unevenly worn sprockets?
