Does Tech3 work like this? I thought they got close to factory just because they just had enough time to develop one type of bike and not a lower spec Yamaha.

I think we are seeing the start of the changes Audi can bring to the table. Allowing the financial backing to have a closer relationship to the satellite bikes. Because let's face it...having a development squad still costs the factory money. Gresini's "factory" Honda, Tech 3's "factory" M1s... making extra bikes costs a lot of cabbage.
