Out of all the Ducati Monsters that you have owned, which one was your favorite? (year/model/displacement)

What was it that made that particular bike stand out for you?

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.

And by that they must mean the 2001 M900Sie........the best Monster ever made [laugh]

Well I've had 2 and I love them anyways.  You need to ask yourself if you want air or water cooled, carbed or FI, SSA or DSS Monster.  I've always kind of wanted an S4, but I usually like my Monsters as they were intended (with no radiators) just sayin..... [laugh]  But in all honesty, my next one will probably be a used 1100 if I don't got back to the full faired Ducs.

[laugh] The only thing I like better about the 2000 is that it came with the Ohlins....your brake is mounted on the wrong side [laugh]

I've only had one, but I've had it for 19 years so far, so I'll vote for that one.  1993 M900 -- the original.

If I was to pick from a blank slate, though, my favorite model Monster made, I'd say the S2R1000.

I'm quite fond of my 2006 620 Dark.
I love the look of the double sided swing arm and the visual balance of the 2 exhaust cans.
Plus the dark is so understated that it just allows the overall simplicity and perfection of the basic Monster design to stand out.
The injection is great for an everyday ride.
The displacement and weight make it easy to ride and it does so many things well.
Commuting to work, Sunday corner carving, occasional track day, weekend get aways, you name it, she can do it!

The stock suspension leaves something to be desired, but it's nothing that the aftermarket can't fix at a reasonable price.
The aircooling does work very hard on hot days in stop and go traffic, but I did add the oil cooler so that helps a bit.
It's a bit underpowered if you're used to liter bikes or even Japanese 600's but then it costs a lot less then those bikes to insure.

Now the plastic gas tank is another story...

Radiator? Really?

Obviously not my favourite, I'd never noticed that.

looking back.
I wish I still had my 99 Monster 900 City.
Totally stock (well with Ti cans and larger rear sprocket)
