OK, confirm me for a '95-'96 Monster al swingarm rear axle.

Kinda hate to put TPO nuts on Kevin's axle ... How 'bout it, Kevin ... Got nuts?  ;D

Is only one safety wire hole ok or does it need all 6?

They're a pita is why I ask...

Only one corner is perfect

A PITA in steel I know well, I've never tried Ti, that's why I'm asking you to do it

Can you make a flat spot & drill the hole before you machine the hex so you're not fighting the 'slippery slope'?

That's an even more difficult method. Instead of maybe .1" to get through you have way more.

Ill machine the hex in the lathe.  After that's done I can take a small endmill to make a pit to start the drill into.

I've used this method before and it works pretty well :)

For anyone that cares here are the measurements of the axle Tony sent me (or had sent to me)

All these numbers are american numbers.  If you want overseas numbers multiply them by 25.4.

OD is .664-.665  Will try to hold this +/-.001"
OAL is 13.225
Thread is M16x1.5 x .645" long
ID is .345 through.  I'll get this as close as I can but it may be larger or smaller.

Also, just for the record this is taking me forever to progress on because the shop is slammed and I'm working second shift for a bit to help keep things moving along.  The upside is that the lathe I will use for nuts and axles will (cross fingers) open up in 7-10 days or so.

Thanks for everyone's patience.

Preliminary numbers on the axles:

If I do only 3 of them Im at $195 shipped to the lower 48.

If I do 6 of them, I can come in at $155 shipped.

I haven't had time to run the nuts through the quote spread sheet yet but consider those as free shipping if you get them along with an axle since they weigh almost nothing and certainly would fit in the package.

I did the nuts.

To even match TPO's price of $40ea I need to make and sell 20 of them.

Or find a cheaper source of Titanium [laugh]

I'll try and source some 7068 alumium and we'll see how the pricing changes and then you all can vote what you want this stuff made from.

Kevin, I know you are trying but at $40/set of 2 I'll have to go with TPO for the nuts.

Not sure how the different axles 'ordered' count toward the best price break ... with what has been posted so far are you at 2, 4 or 5 against the 6 needed for the $155 price?

If I count all the guys showing interest, including a customer of mine who wants a set for his SS/SL, I make it 5 rear axles so far and 2 front. We'll get there.

Kevin, Have you tried titaniumjoe.com for material? I need to get with you sometime to get a quote for Ti necks for frames. I also have a contact in Russia for material but haven't got prices yet.

Monsterlover

Yeah, I used t.Joe's website for pricing.

Glad I found this thread before it went to far.  (I've been away for work, with little or no interweb)

I'm in for early monster front and Ally swingarm rear...   [thumbsup]
