What we can say for sure is that the rumored bike isn't likely to look anything like the picture above, which nonetheless is an interesting mash-up of an Aprilia trellis frame along with bodywork from MV Agusta.

It will definitely interesting,
I'm sure the styling will be all VW with the engine from KTM with some possible input from Porsche

At one point, VW was on the verge (so they said) of making a three-wheeled vehicle, two wheels in front, one in back. If that thing was powered by a motorcycle-esque engine, a regular motorcycle wouldn't be too much of a leap.

I hope they do it. The more the merrier.

wouldn't be the first.

Volkswagen of Brasil long ago put a stroked-down Bug engine in a bike frame.  It was called the Amazonas.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

You mean the 1L?

The 1L engine might make a good powerplant for a small motorcycle, but I was thinking of the GX3. Turns out it uses an I4 Lupo engine, though.

If it's TDI, i'll buy it.

GX3 was pretty awesome.. I would have bought one for sure.. then swapped the 1.6, for a 1.8 bottom end, and supercharged that sucker. 250ish HP range with tons of torque.. would have been interesting  [evil]

There was the Thunderstar that had a VW turbo diesel from a Lupo, huge gobs of torque

If I could find a place to order one of those, I would. I've liked them since I first read about them.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Turbocharged automobile engine in a motorcycle, with a radiator (and an intercooler?), and it still manages to look very clean. Pity about all the carbon fiber, but damn that thing must be fun.
