I'm heading to a friend's place on Montauk for the holiday weekend.  Taking the Duc.

I'm not familiar with Long Island so I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for a fun route from the city to east L.I. that generally avoids the highway.  Thanks!

Knew why but never experienced it.  Geez, what a long, boring ride out there.

That said, once you get to the tip, its all fun.  Went for a 3hr ride on Sunday through windy forest and farm roads.  Good times.

Went on pretty much every road between Montauk and Shinnecock Hills---just kind of wondered the tip of the isle for 3 hrs.  Nearly everything but Rt.27 (a business rd) was a tree canopied winding road like this:

Unless you live half way out there LI roads are a waste imo.  Better to just go upstate if you're going to ride that far for roads.

Oh and btw, that's what she said...  :P
