this one can accelerate (amazingly well *caveat* for a diesel)

or it can turn

but not both at the same time

the power delivery fights with the front end like an angry puppy terrorising a rag-doll

when my Golf lights up the tires, it goes straight. No reason these days for excessive torque steer

A Saab with no torque steer would be like a BMW without the kidney grill, a Buick without port holes (OK, they were gone for a while, but they are back) a Citroen with springs and shocks...

We have rain in Seattle. 50 days without a drop falling from the sky. It is a myth that it rains here all the time!

THATS because its been raining here in FLORIDA for the past 3 months!!! (we are stealing all of your rain... you're welcome) .. and I barely have any tread left on my front tire so I'm scared to ride in the rain right now.

Yesterday's mid-Atlantic cyclocross season-opener is a race I remember fondly: the Tacchino Ciclicross (Turkey Cyclocross - back in the old days, it was around Thanksgiving, and my old bike racing team, Squadra Coppi was a bunch of guys of mixed heritage that liked to believe we rode like Italians). I was even race director for several of the race's formative years, and the team has really made some fantastic improvements in the six years since I moved away from the Washington DC area.

Yesterday, the U.S. National Cyclocross Champion, Jeremy Powers, showed up and won the elite field in "my" little regional race. I am way more proud of this fact than I have any right to be.

There is a farmer market about 11 miles from my house.  I try to buy as many farm raised necessities directly from the grower.  Its about the same price as the grocery store but it feels good to know that good people are getting all the $$.
