IOS 6 is available for download on your 4s. Some sweet upgrades.

6 is available down the the 3gs that I have too. Not sure what they changed, but web browsing/page render, especially on the board here is a lot faster.

with the ios 6 download for older phones, you loose the google maps right?  That is one reservation I have about going to 6.

6 has some nice features, but it's really looking like the apple maps is dogging compared to the googles  Too late for me, well I could roll back but it'd a be an asspain.

So if you're really attached to google maps - don't upgrade the OS. At least not until (if ever) there's a release of a proper google maps app.

Yeah, I upgraded the wife's 4s, but we weren't that attached to Google Maps. It was right only half of the time.

I installed iOS6 on my 4s just to see what the new features would be like when my iPhone 5 comes tomorrow.  I actually the Apple maps is amazing, it'll take some getting used to but the visuals are great, the 3D images look like Google Earth, and I think it loads a lot faster than either Google product.  Also the Do Not Disturb and Reply With Message features are really helpful.  And Panorama works really well too, better than the existing third party apps.  I'm pretty happy with this iOS release, most of the time the features added have nothing to do with how I use my phone.

the (intentionally) cut down version of google maps available on the iphone sucked to begin with, so i would imagine that the new IOS6 maps would be an improvement. but i would still find it useless without the turn by turn voice directions that have been available on android phones since 2009
