Not travelling really well myself , not me with the affliction, but a couple of people within touching distance. I'm sure there's gotta be other people in our DMF community that have been in this situation with a loved one, or are still in it. So hard sitting on the sidelines with nothing to offer but my presence and love. Very good prognoses for both of my loved ones, the treatment is F* hard on 'em but they are strong people. I dunno why I'm writing this, just reaching out I guess.

That's all you can do...be there.

In my experience it changes them sometimes.

Be prepared for that.

Sorry to hear mate.
Got a relative going through the treatment.
It's tough giving support, but otherwise feeling helpless.

Got my dad a couple years back. But the upside is he lived well past anything the 'models' and such said after initial diagnosis. Help keep 'em happy. a positive attitude for them is a big thing.

What else can you offer but your presence and love?  Dont underestimate the value, its a really important contribution.  But it is hard mate......

...... what else can we - your DMF mates - do but offer you a few words of encouragement  :-\

+1.

Sorry to hear B.

I've experienced the changes as well with my mom. She's beaten it after chemo for 15 years now.  Big change in behavior though. She's still here so that's all that matters!

We moved back home to be with her during treatment. Very tough but being there was good for her and us.

Just spend time with your family. Hope all goes well.

Been there, done that. I'm still here. I've got the "hard to kill" gene in my DNA... thankfully. One word. Attitude. Your mental outlook may be the best treatment. For you and others. Mother Nature and the good Lord above put you here. They spend the rest of their time trying to find new and interesting ways to kill you. No one gets out of here alive, just don't let them short change you. Again, attitude and perseverance.

Good luck my friend. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. [thumbsup]

Sorry to hear.

I learned last week that a high-school classmate has a mass in his brain that is not responding to treatment, and he has six months.  :-\

+1 TO ALL THAT HAS BEEN SAID...

my Mom is a 16 years now survivor of breast cancer, so there is hope!

BTW, my personal belief is that the day they really and truly find a cure for any 1 particular cancer, no matter which it is, will be the turning point, as they will more than likely figure out how to reverse engineer that solution and gear it towards all of them!

Sorry to see this news Brimo.  Another +11ty billion to what has already been shared.

In addition to the above, I've chosen to volunteer in various capacities to the causes I feel are structured best towards finding cures.  If you go down that road, do your research and find the cause that aligns with your values and beliefs then roll up your sleeves and help out.  It's very rewarding and I know my friends/family/colleagues who have fell victim to these diseases have appreciated volunteer's efforts.

Keep us updated, ok?!

Same thing with my mom. But that last treatment Knocked her down, and then it got really ugly.

Yeah, lost my Mom to liver cancer in 1976. It kicked her ass in the worst way. The chemo back then was medieval. Don't know which was worse... her dying of cancer or the make the beast with two backsing treatments. We should all be glad we live in the here and now. It can only get better. I am only here due the miracles of modern medicine and science. I know that disappoints some of you. [laugh]

Again, brimo all the best and know that there are a lot of folks on this board you will never meet that are praying for your well being and your loved ones. [thumbsup] Head up and be positive. ;)

I agree...I do a bit of volunteer work for a couple of breast cancer events, and I can say from experience, I have seen the healing of people whom work together and console and uplift one another within those events and circles....there is a lot of support out there...all you have to do is reach out, and you will find it for sure!

I am doing my best to spread the word about the HPV vaccine, in Australia it is a free vaccination to young teen girls and will be available to boys in 2013.
Please make sure your young ones get the HPV vaccine. Not everyone knows but HPV not only causes cervical cancer but a number of others as well. (tonsil cancer in this case) Speaking to the senior oncologist at the Royal Brisbane Hospital he described it as an "epidemic" waiting to happen, it was the 4th case of this type of tonsil cancer he had seen that week.

Ian Frazer is the vaccine creator, a man responsible for potentially saving thousands of lives.

Thank you good people for your support.
