i never come in the gun thread
but i noticed this post - go figure

why do you need a new gun?
i've seen your wife's musket  ;D
Everyone needs a new gun. [laugh]

That musket won't fit inside my truck never mind in a pocket. :P

Then I can skip the pocket pistol part and go right to a 1911.  ;)

I must amend that statement.  Bison would be the correct answer for native animals to the US. The 45/70 has been used to take down the big 5 in Africa; elephant, rhino, hippo, cape buffalo, and lion.

Good... sasquatch better leave my slimjim alone then..

Yes.

What's the consensus on the best pocket 9 or 380 that a poor painter can afford?

KelTec P3AT.  It can handle +P ammo, but don't use that for practice.  They are no nonsense pistols.

The KelTec PF9 is larger but is equally good, price for performance.

I have carried a 3AT since they started making them and had zero issues.  At least 4-5 dozen boxes of ammo at the range.

The 380 is not the best round, but with +P you can approximate a regular 9mm and the main advantage is the ease of carry and concealment -- you cannot beat the size.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I'll sell you a Sig 220 for a good price.

+1 on the P3AT.  Not fun to shoot, but mine has never had a problem.

I have a molded kydex pocket holster for it- pretty much impossible to print even with light slacks.

Not normally considered cheap, but we picked up a Sig P238 combo package earlier this year for $500. After selling the crap holster that came with it, the Sig laser, and the hogue grip, we are in it for about $380 brand new! Hard to beat that deal if you can find it.

Nice price, but wasn't thinking SAO for a pocket gun.

Not completely ruled out though if I can find a deal.

BTW...great info here...

What he said^! [thumbsup] I have a .32 and .380 Kel-Tec... they work great! Don't ask me why I bought the Ruger but I did. It is also awesome for a mouse gun. I don't think you can go wrong with either brand if that's what you want.

I don't own a 9mm mouse gun. Closest I have to one is a Glock 26. But for concealabilty you cannot beat the Ruger or Kel-Tec mini autos. Then again I am a huge fan of the S&W J frame 642s. [thumbsup]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I've fired both the LCP and LC9

They both worked.

They're basically copies of the Kel Tec

The KelTec is considerably less $

The KelTec and Ruger 9's are both larger than some of the other offerings.

They're also considerably less money.

The LC9 just barely fits in the front pocket of Carhartt's without the grip showing.
