Hello to this new family I've joined!

My names Ash, I am currently on a deployment in Afghanistan and in a little over 2 months I will be home and i thought i would treat myself to an "08 S2R. I have loved Dukes ever since i was a wee little whipper snapper and have never taken the plunge into actually owning one. I grew up on 100acres of farm and bushland so have owned an array of motox bikes. After coming face to face with the morbid reality of my own mortality this Ducati signals the heralding in of a new era for me so to speak.

I have a Beautiful Fiance who I will be marrying in December, we are planning a family and I really am seriously thinking about the future for the first time in my life. I have bought this bike as it was within my budget, and it seems to be fairly stock and i have the mod bug......

some things i want to do initially are, something about the ugly exhaust! (any suggestions will be greatly appreciated) new mirrors, I want to do a tail chop but i first need to look into the legalities in Australia in regards to it. I am a big fan of a deep red colour being intermingled with the black as well but am unsure of where to go with that just yet.

if someone could please tell me how to post pics I will put some up for your perusal/comments.

Careful what you ask for when it comes to mods around here. We're quite good at spending others money!

The Accessories & Mods section will do first. And the Tech... and probably good to look through the tutorial and FAQ topics. Most items for an 08 bike have been discussed at one point or another here. And if not, we like a challenge!

bloody hell i'm hopeless, thanks guys. the discoloured part of the exhaust is that what you guys call the udder? and wha are your suggestions on cleaning that up? That and the mirrors will be my starting point i think oh and geez louize the homemade mods page is where I am finding my Zen I can't wait to get amongst it and really make that bike an extension of my personality  You guys are an amazing inspiration by the way

Some states are coming down hard on tail chops nowdays, so I would suggest a tail tidy up kit without chopping the frame. There are some nice carbon kits available.
A power commander III, open airbox and tune will really enhance the bikes performance.

Thanks for that tid bit of info i have looked at alot of the tail idy options available and they all look like a bent piece of metal with a couple of holes in it, so i'm thinking with a bit of gumption and alot of patience i may just be able to knock one up on my own. Why are the tail chops being targeted so much now?
