Where I live in Queens wasn't hit very badly at all. I didn't lose power and my bike stayed dry as well. I rode into Manhattan earlier today and it was eerie to ride around with no power to any of the traffic lights.

Howie checking in.

We have electricity but most of the neighborhood doesn't.  My block is in good shape, some minimal damage to homes and trees is about it.  Oh, I did have a chair blow over.

Bad news is my mother in law is here until they get the electricity going in lower Manhattan [bang]

Glad everyone is doing ok from the storm.  We're getting random snow, but nothing of real concern (in other words I've not had to put my truck in 4WD from it)

Some of the pictures of the Manhatten are amazing!

Think so ;D

The Architect

Finally heard from my brother this afternoon, he and his family live on the south shore of L.I.  They're all right.  Lots of flooding.  He was told 90% of The island was out of power this morning.  He's an electrician and has been on call dealing with downed lines and submerged generators.

My younger brother was concerned for my parents on L.I.  He tried to talk my father into staying with him because my parents always lose power and usually for a week or so.  My fathers response "I lived the first 18 years of my life without electricity, I think I manage for one week."

IZ

Glad everyone appears to be ok. The pics from the affected areas are unbelievable.   :o

I lucked out and got stuck in sf for the whole storm. Flight back home to JFK is set for tomorrow night and I'm hoping the roads and bridges are alright for the ride back home.

Has anyone heard from RAT?

no, but I hope we hear from him soon.

the damage from this hurricane is unreal. the photos from my hometown are heartbreaking - houses and businesses are just gone. Landmarks that have been around for generations - gone.

So many people don't have power or cell phone service - I'm hoping Rat falls into this category.

We haven't heard from T's sister that lives on the south shore of LI either.

Nassau county didn't evacuate. I hope it wasn't a deadly error.

edit...

we just got news that T's sister is safe and that it seems they did leave...smart move.
